Egg and sperm health supplements after recurrent miscarriage

Could anyone give me an idea of the best supplements for me and OH to take to put us in the best condition to conceive in 3-6 months time. We have changed from a generic multi vit to the asda conception duo pack but I'm not convinced this is the best stuff.

I will be 32 by the time we ttc#1 and have a history of miscarriage and missed miscarriage. I have been pregnant 3 times. I want to try and improve my egg quality as I do wonder if hyper fertility is an issue. I have always conceived first time or by not being careful enough (diaphragm I'm looking at you) so better quality may mean less losses. I'm terrified it will keep happening. I just want to get on and try so I can get used to the idea of no children sooner if thats going to be the case. Definite pessimist on this I'm afraid.

My OH will be nearly 40 so again the best supplements for making the best quality sperm he can. I know his age increases chance of things like miscarriage, birth defects and learning difficulties. He wants children but is in no rush to try again as he wants all his ducks lined up first. I don't have patience for his logical approach, i just want to get going.

I'm happy to buy separate vits etc I don't need a complete all in one tablet. I'm just not sure what to add and what doses. Thanks

I swapped on to Proceive (Max because I'm over 35) - maybe give those a try but they are expensive but have the most "stuff" in them at higher quantities

So sorry for your losses, I myself have had 2 this year. I've been taking Ubiquinol and a good book to read is It Starts With The Egg.
However, I am over 40 but I would say if you are only 31 you should have good quality eggs. A consultant recently told me that my miscarriages were unlikely to be due to "bad eggs' as those often would not implant in the first place... instead she referred me to the Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic (which is a special department in all hospitals).
Have you also been referred? I think they look into other factors like thyroid function, NK cells etc (worth googling!) and you would definitely qualify for a referral having had 3 losses. What I mean is, it sounds like your case warrants further investigation....
Hope this helps, good luck!

Wow the proceive max is expensive from amazon. I'll do a comparison and see if they are worth it. Thanks.

Where is the best place to get ubiquinol from? 200mg seems to be the dose needed but hardest to find without being crazy expensive. The reviews for the book look promising. I think my losses ate too spread out and with different partners so will have to sit tight and cross my fingers we don't end up needing a referal.

@Esssa
Expensive but I usually stock up when Boots/Holland Barrett have 25% off and also buy when there are lots of loyalty points offers

I had egg collection on Monday and my IVF egg quality is much better than first cycle and also fell pregnant naturally twice whilst been on Proceive max (1 mc 1 ectopic) and before that hadn't had a positive test in 18 months when on my old supplements

I get 200mg coq10 from boots too x

Esssa · 26/09/2019 14:44

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted coq10 or ubiquinol? Was reading the research about blood levels and 300mg of ubiquinol did the same as 2400mg of coq10 so not sure which way to go. Will check out boots and Holland and Barrett.

@Esssa
The coq10 version - I think the difference with ubiquinol is that it's more easily absorbed into the bloodstream than coq10 but that's why I took the max dose I could find - I'm a bit nervous or buying supplements off unfamiliar websites and wanted to stick with places I'm comfortable with like Boots and Holland and Barratt

Yes, ubiquinol is the reduced, active form. And, when looking for reputable supplements, look for forms that are both water and fat-soluble.
