Short, light periods... is it a sign something is wrong?

I've been off contraception for just over a year & half (previously on progesterone only pill for a year, and an implant prior to that).

My periods are pretty regular (28 day cycle mostly, doesn't tend to vary by more than a day or two).

Periods tend to be very light and very short (2 or 3 days max).

Am I just lucky to get short periods; or can it be a sign that something is wrong? Everything I have read talks about really heavy or irregular periods being a problem, but I'm wondering if I've missed something. If they're really light would that suggest I'm not ovulating?

Going to try OPKs again this month (never had any luck previously) but just wondering if anyone else has similar experiences?

Hey op, I googled this a lot as mine are short (sadly not light). I concluded that if they've always been that way, not to worry. It's only if they massively change you should talk to a doctor. Maybe go see one anyway to put your mind at rest?

Ok thanks @Lemonysherbet . That's reassuring, I'm so paranoid lately!

Following this with interest as my periods were always a few days and now I'm "lucky" if they are 2 days. Sometimes 36 ish hours.

I'm 42 though so not sure if she is playing a part.

I managed to fall pregnant twice though

I'm 40, 3 CPs in 5 months and my periods are only 48 hours, heavy for about 18 hours. Sometime I get spotting for a day at the end.

Noroof · 20/09/2019 00:03

Hey I've always had light and short. 1 Day of 'flow' and one of spotting. No cramps or anything.
I too worried re the womb lining being thick enough etc but the doc wasn't concerned.
I have 2 lovely dc both conceived naturally so dont worry 😀

How old are you?

Izzie94 · 20/09/2019 10:36

Hi lovely, @30somethingandtired

Not really advice here, but I'm in exactly the same boat. Came off my pill around March, I was lucky enough to go straight back into regular cycles 27-28 days. But my period is around 2 days, 3 max. Ive done SO much googling and have still read a lot of woman have fallen pregnant naturally regardless of this and doctors don't deem it to be an issue unless they have drastically changed.

Previous to my pill my periods were around 5 days, regular flow, but that was 9 years ago and I am now 25! So just joining this post to see everyone's experiences, I'm hoping it's nothing to worry about 😊
