Optimal thyroid levels when TTC?

I have an under-active thyroid which was diagnosed many years ago. I spoke to a fertility nurse who said I should aim to get my levels as close to 2 as possible. I was over-compensating so had my thyroxine reduced from 100 to 75, then to 50.
My most recent TSH has come back as 0.6. I'm told this is 'normal'. Is this okay for TTC though?

We've been TTC for 3.5 years and lost three babies so I'm desperately trying to do everything I can for a healthy outcome for our future rainbow baby.

Hi @itswhereitsat I hope you would be kind enough to have a look at my results.... when I was pregnant at 5 weeks I had my bloods done at GP and tsh was 10.5, with free T4 at 19...these show TSH now dropped but T4 raised. I'm on 125mcg thyroxine. Thanks for your help xx

Optimal thyroid levels when TTC?

Hi, my T3 and T4 are within normal range, but my TSH is 0.01/undetectable. Has anyone else experienced this? The endocrinologist didnt want to put me on any medication as he said he wouldnt recommend it when TTC'n. However, we've been trying to conceive for almost 2 year and nothing has happened!

@rebecca121 I know this is an old thread but I just stumbled across it. My TSH levels are the same as yours. I have an overactive thyroid and was diagnosed with Graves Disease. There is a medication for overactive thyroids that is safe for ttc-propylthiouracil. I was just advised to stop ttc by my endocrinologist so I am waiting until my thyroid levels have improved to start trying. It might be worth you asking for an antibody blood test though to find out exactly what the cause is.

Thanks for replying. So after almost a year of my TSH level being undetectable, it came back within normal range in November and were fine again in January when tested (although they had dropped slightly from the last reading). Unfortunately I had a chemical pregnancy last month (that’s the first positive ive had throughout this whole journey) and I have 1 cycle left before trying IVF, so I have everything crossed at this stage. When I seen my endocrinologist in January they confirmed that Graves antibodies were found, so although they are low at the minute, ive to go back and see him every 4 months to review it. I just hope it doesn’t cause me issues for a long time. Thanks for letting me know about that medicine. I’ll definitely take note. I’m sure you’ll levels will normalise in no time with the meds!

Hello,

Are there any grandmothers who are full time childcare for their baby grandchildren in Southfields and would be interested in a meet up/coffee morning?

Hi,

could you please recomend any good private endocrinologist in London?

In order to conceive with my first baby I had to reduce my tth from 2.5 to 0.8 using levothyroxyne in my homeland.
now I live in UK, my tth is 1.9 and gp says it is enough to conceive, she cannot prescribe me levothyroxine. She reffered me to endo but I need to wait 8 month for consultation.. So, I dont want to waist my time as I am not young… just would like to have profesional consulation of endo who is familiar with autoimune thyro and TTC. to have a levothyroxine prescription.

And thank you very much for sharing your stories!
