Me and my husband are trying to conceive our first baby. I came off the pill in preparation in July last year and we started actively trying at the beginning of May (couldn't try before due to Zika risk). I track my periods (29 day cycle) on the flo app which predicts ovulation. Due to not being successful so far we decided to use ovulation sticks this month to give a helping hand. My app predicts ovulation on Saturday and I am testing daily, at the moment there is the control line, but no hint of another line. I believe I have read on here that most people have a line and the strength of it increases when they ovulate? I'm aware that the app may be wrong but I'm worried I'm not ovulating at all. I'm a healthy weight but do a lot of exercise (I do not want to change this unless absolutely necessary).

Can anyone offer any advice as to whether the ovulation stick line will develop as hormones increase or if it just appears during a very small window? Any other advice welcome.

Hi @Mustrryharder!
I currently have very irregular periods so i test twice daily to track my ovulation. Mine tend to start getting darker quite quickly. When they do I admittedly get a bit ocd with them because I like to track the changes. Here is a pic of how mine changed and the times are there so you can get a rough idea! Hope it helps!.

Also the app is called pre mom and its really helpful to keep track of your tests!!

I believe that some women always have a bit of a line on OPKs and some tend to only get a line when ovulation is nearing, likewise some women get a gradual “fade in” and some get a sudden surge so I don’t think there’s any “right” way for an OPK to look before ovulation.

What I will say though is that it’s very unlikely for you to be having anovulatory cycles if you have a regular 29 day cycle- you’d expect much longer and/or irregular cycles if you weren’t actually ovulating.

Fantastic thank you! I won't be concerned about a lack of a line for now and will keep doing them. Thank you
