When will I ovulate after MC?

I started bleeding almost 3 weeks ago and finally lost the sac on Monday morning. I have taken a pregnancy test today and it's a strong positive line (it is an early test so maybe this doesn't necessarily mean my hcg is high).

I think I might want to start TTC straight away as I'm 39 and don't want to waste time. When will I ovulate though and can I still ovulate whilst having hcg in my blood?

@nicola18737 I'm so sorry to hear of your mc, it's a very upsetting time. Your body will not ovulate with hcg in it still. I ovulated 31 days after my surgical management and I drove myself absolutely insane tracking everything and made myself even more stressed. Looking back, I should have let myself wait for the next af as I probably delayed my ovulation through stress. Ovulation after a mc is not always guaranteed either :(.

@nicola18737 sorry for your loss, I had a MMC a few months ago which also treated with surgical management in the end after a couple of failed medicine induced attempts. I ovulated exactly 2 weeks after, but it can take upto 4 - 6 weeks x

@Help1983uk thanks for the reply. When you say you ovulated 2 weeks after, 2 weeks after what exactly? I don't know what counts as the miscarriage, the start of me losing the blood, when the blood became red and heavy or when I lost the sac.

@fallingasleeprightnow ah I did wonder if I'd ovulate with hcg in my blood. I did doubt it as my body would think I was pregnant so not to release an egg. Yes I feel like it would be easy to get really stressed about. I usually know my cycle inside out so it's a bit unsettling not knowing what's happening. Plus having to wait to TTC again.

@nicola18737 first of all your test needs to be negative to ensure you've had a complete miscarriage, if it's still positive after two weeks I'd contact the EPU so that they can scan you etc. So I ovulated 2 weeks after I had my procedure, they had to suction twice during the one op which removed everything and told me the test would be negative within a week, which it was. So literally 2 weeks after my procedure I had ovulation pain, peak on digital clearblue ovulation and slight breakthrough bleeding. You won't ovulate until your hcg goes back to pre-pregnancy level, so keep checking with sensitive pregnancy test (frer is prob best) x

@Help1983uk thanks for the detailed reply. Well I passed everything on Monday and luckily had a scan on Monday afternoon. They said everything was gone. So I'm guessing then ovulation will be 2 weeks from Monday

No problem. Ovulation after miscarriage varies for everyone, so don't be disheartened if it isn't in 2 weeks. Ever since mine I've feel OV pain which I couldn't before - it's heightened everything. All the best

@nicola18737 so sorry for your loss. I had a miscarriage on the 12th of August and I had medical management to pass the baby. After 2 weeks I had a negative pregnancy test from that date and yesterday i have just had a positive ovulation test. I dtd yesterday so fingers crossed I catch again as I believe I maybe have ovulated today. Fact is it seems that it’s taken my body 3 weeks to ovulate after the sac passed. I understand how upsetting it is to start again and not have confidence in your body when all you want to do is be pregnant again but I’m sure you will get there soon enough considering you caught once and will do it again. All the best x
