Does anyone get ovulation pain? If so, how severe is it??

I've always had it. At times it can feel quite sharp and enough to take paracetamol and want to sit still for a while. Never so severe that I couldn't keep going with my day if I needed to.

How often did you get it? I've had pains on & off since Friday, feels sharpe & stabby like, sometimes feels like twisting. My periods are irregular so whilst my app says ovulation may have been last weekend, I could actually be having a longer cycle.

Mine was severe - to the point I had to have sick days from work - bloating which made me look 3 months pregnant and a heavy painful feeling in uterus

I ended up with 2 ectopic pregnancies though and once my tubes were removed o don't get ovulation pain anymore (even though I still
Ovulate) so the doctors believe it was linked

My ovulation pain is hideous. I'm currently awaiting a Laparoscopy to see if any reason why.
I can barely walk when I have it and sometimes just take myself off to bed.

Mine is mixed
Sometimes just a thing and sometimes crippling enough to need to lie down

I was diagnosed with PCOS before becoming pregnant the first time so not too sure if that’s linked to painful ovulation

Dancingfairydreams · 03/09/2019 20:06

Saw the GP today, she confirmed my longterm suspicion that I do have PCOS although kindly told me that my pain probably wasn't ovulation pain as "you're probably not actually ovulating" 😣 prodded & poked, nothing found, need to keep a diary of if it happens again. Thank you all for your replies

I always thought with PCOS that you most likely do ovulate if your cycle is regular

I’d cycles are way off then ovulation can be hit and miss

Unless I am totally mistaken of course.
But it doesn’t seem like the sort of thing a GP should have said if not accurate

I haven't ever had ovulation pains but I do have PCOS and I ovulate (confirmed with OPKs).

@Dancingfairydreams how was your PCOS diagnosed? Have you had bloods and scans carried out? I was diagnosed by a gynaecologist at hospital after being referred by my GP. As far as I understand, your GP can't diagnose PCOS, they can suspect it but you need to be referred for investigations for a diagnosis to be confirmed.

If you haven't had any proper tests done then I would be asking for them just to be sure. A friend of mine has endometriosis and suffers terrible pain so it might not be PCOS at all x

I have really bad ovulation pain some months then it'll be ok on others. I have had blood tests and a pelvic scan and all was clear. I have only had it since taking cerazette though - I have been off that 13 months. It's so painful, like a stitch in my uterus area that leaves me bent double
