Increase changed of ovulating

Hi everyone! I'm really after some advice of how to increase my chances of ovulating and even ovulating earlier in my cycle as they are currently cruising along at about 40 days 😩

Just a bit of back ground..... I am 28 and I have a 2.5 year old son. He wasn't planned but also wasn't not....... I was off contraception for nearly a year before we had him. At that time I was struggling with irregular/long cycles and had a scan and they found lots of cysts on my ovaries. Scan has been repeated recently and it's the same. I've never been given a PCOS diagnosis but a lot with the cysts/long cycles/darker facial hair (thank god for facial bleach!!) it's something I likely have. My blood tests were ok.
Me and my husband stopped using contraception in April, but really started tracking ovulation etc in June and no joy yet. I'm currently 11 dpo but AF is looming, I 100% expect to be out this month.
I just wondered if anyone has any advice on how I can increase my chances of ovulating as with PCOS it could be that I haven't even ovulated recently! Any dietary tips? Vitamins I should be taking? (Currently taking folic acid and vit d by seven seas vitamins).
I just want to do everything I possibly can to have a better month next month!

Thanks for listening :)

I've not ovulated since coming off BCP, either. I'm nearing the end of Cycle #2, so it hasn't been very long, but im 38 yrs old so im racing against the clock.

Ive been taking Vitex for the past month, but it hasn't helped at all. I think it can take 3-6 months or longer to work, but ive decided not to continue taking it as I don't feel like its doing much to help. I may be wrong, but there are quite a few stories of Vitex messing up peoples cycles, so im not sure its worth the risk at this point.

I'm considering trying Soy Isoflavones from CD3-7 next cycle. Apparently they are "Nature's Clomid" and can help you ovulate better and have stronger eggs. I figure it's worth a try.

I also take Myo-Inositol, Ubiquinol, Maca, Omega 3, Prenatal Vitamin, Magnesium, Zinc, Chromium, Vit C and B-100 complex.

It might be worth looking into some of these to see if theyre something you could use.

Best of luck! xxx

Soy Isoflavones are meant to be really good for ladies with PCOS, by the way. xxx

@november90 I could have wrote this myself!!

Recently off the pill to TTC #2. First wasn't planned as I just had my PCOS diagnosis and was told I'd never conceive because of it. Only came off the pill on 25th August but started tracking ovulation straight away which has been pretty much everywhere so I think they just aren't going to work for me but will continue with them and see once I get my withdrawal bleed.

My current GP are useless tbh so not sure on steps, but from stopping the pill my pain in my ovaries are horrendous 😒

Good luck to you x

I was diagnosed with PCOS a couple of years ago after irregular periods. My doctor recommended taking myo inositol and folic acid, I started taking it and within 3 months I conceived my DS, now taking it again in hope to conceive DC2! It regulated my periods and helped me ovulate. It's worth looking into or asking your doctor :) good luck!

Thank you so much everyone for the replies! I didn't really expect anyone to read my rambling and I honestly feel really so much better knowing there things I can try! I know it sounds daft but I feel a bit emotional with the support as I've felt so alone with this PCOS for a long time!
Where do you ladies get these vitamins from? Prescription or over the counter?

I just get over the counter. I have folic acid, evening primrose, iron, vitamin B, magnesium and cod liver oil. Going to get some Myo inositol aswell on Wednesday x

Laur89 · 02/09/2019 18:42

@november90 I bought my myo inositol from online, from a company called viridian - it's powder form taken twice a day. Have a look online there's lots about it! I hope things work out for you :) x

Thank you everyone! Do you think it is safe for me to take these supplements give I've never been given an official diagnosis? My cycles are anything from 36-42 days long at the moment and I don't even know Ive I'm ovulating :(
I've been to the doctors so many times and I've just been fobbed off!

Perfectly safe to take as there just supplements. X

november90 · 02/09/2019 19:36

Thank you @Hayley94 I've been looking up Myo inositol and soy insoflavones and read some great things! I'd quite like to try them but I'm a bit nervous about the soy one as I've heard some amazing things and then some not so amazing..... but I suppose that will always be the case don't it!

Hayley94 · 02/09/2019 19:52

You just have to try things and see what's working for you. I think my supplements are helping as I have apparently ovulated twice already since stopping the pill? Not sure if I'm reading it right though! X

That's amazing @Hayley94 yes you're right I think I'm gonna give them a go and see! I don't know why I'm being so nervous, as you said they are supplements :)
It would just be amazing to have a shorter cycle... this month o UK's toon was cd 29 and the wait just really gets me down :( I see people coming and going on these threads before I've even ovulated and it makes me feel so sad :(

See I haven't had a bleed yet, so wanted to get supplements to help with this side but whether it's these causing me to ovulate twice so soon who knows 🙊 x

Ditto for ubiquinol, and a water and fat-soluble form absorbs better. One other thing to consider is to review all new supplements with your doctor for safety as well.
