Hi

I am starting donor IVF on the 15/8/7 and on this day I will be 9 dpo....... just had a thought......if I am pregnant this month(been ttc for 3 years).....and I start to take my 'shutting down' drugs.... this will be awful!

Basically I am wanting to know......what pregnancy test can I buy that will be super duper sensitive (I will be about 4-5 days before I am due on) so that I can rule out pregnancy before I start my treatment.

Just to add me and my DH did not take precautions this month before our IVF cos we just couldn't bear the thought of loosing 1 month of ttc!!!!!!!!!

any advice appreciated

Thanks tempi. I planned to come back with my questions but dh nicked the laptop and I fell asleep!

What I wanted to ask is this:

I'm on CD17 and for the past couple of days have felt sick on and off (more queezy than sick tbh, was like this when pg with ds), had sore boobs, been emotional i.e. crying over silly things etc. A friend and my sister both insist I'm pg but obviously it's too early to test. I've decided I'll just wait and see and will try testing next Tuesday (which I believe I can with First Response) but last night I had a desperate need to see if people thought I was . I was asking about ovulation because I think I am/was (last night had what was described as egg whites on that link - yuck hehe) so wondered if it's actually possible that I'm pg then? I know I had very strong symptoms and all my friends 'pointed out' I was pg when I was only a week gone, or maybe less. Last night I was thinking if I'm only recently ovulating then it can't be that but my sister told me that she had all these symptoms the day/next day after she conceived. Gosh, feel like I'm well and truly babbling and I should shut up and just wait BUT I was wondering if I should avoid alcohol (our wedding anniversary on Sat), caffine, foods shouldn't have when pg etc, just in case ????

OH SHOOT ME NOW!!! (can you tell I've become a little obsessed since I came off the pill! Was never like this with ds but knowing more about TTC actually makes me what every little symptom, detail!)

looneytune · 07/08/2007 09:33

OR.....are these symptoms just a sign of ovulation? I really don't have a clue do I!!!

goingfor3 · 07/08/2007 09:37

looneytune - your signs probably are ovulation and you are over sensitive to them because you are looking for them, I had them every month when I was ttc last time!

looneytune · 07/08/2007 09:52

Ok, that's what I thought tbh. I wasn't looking for any signs but since I've had them it's like 'am i, aren't i' and I want a drink and feel I shouldn't etc.

Can I ask........would you stop having the odd drink etc. just in case or would you carry on as normal until you get a BFP?

Thanks for answering, I do feel silly but it's hard when you've got other people INSISTING you are lol! (this is what happened with ds, did test but came up negative as was too early to test at that point)

scorpio1 · 07/08/2007 10:34

i had drinks this week whilst on holiday but i didnt know. i think its a personal thing about the alcohol-up to you!

other question-i think you are ov'ing

looneytune · 07/08/2007 10:46

That's the same, I had drinks, ate tons of fried eggs (which shouldn't but had cravings and didn't know) etc etc. but didn't know. I was a week (or just under) pg when these signs showed when we were away on a girly weekend and I stopped drinking on the last night when everyone told me they thought I was. BUT.....if it takes months and months to conceive, I don't want to never have a drink just in case as that makes me think I'm more likely to not be - always seems to me that when people are really careful just in case then they end up not but when they carry on as usual (i.e. relax) then they're more likely to be - god, I'm going off on one again

Right, I reckon I'm just ovulating then, at the end of the day I've been on the pill since I was 16 and only been off it just before pg, during pg and whilst bf so I don't really know what my body does when I'm not on the pill iyswim.

Another question about the pill (I've asked others who don't know the answer)......does the pill stop you ovulating all together or do you still ovulate but just can't get pg?

Gosh, this proper TTC thing is going to be a nightmare if I take a long time. I've been pg 3 times (2 m/c, 1 ds) and each time I've fallen straight away (1 split condom once which made me pg, the other time came off pill and fell straight away but m/c then after 3 months of using protection after m/c, stopped protection and fell immediately). So I've never really TTC properly as such, just tried and fell, no watching for signs etc. It's bloomin MN and all the info I've taken in the 2+ years of being on here, makes it worse imo!!
