You track your temp every morning at the same time before you get out of bed.
Your temp will rise slightly before ovulation

Xx

Make sure to take your temperature every morning at the same time before getting out of bed, moving or anything (leave somewhere you can easily reach in morning) once ovulation has happened you will notice an increase in temperature
It sounds like hard work but really it's so simple and becomes a second nature after a few weeks

Good luck !

Awwh thank you so much ladies, I sound daft asking but I just want to make sure I know what's happening. This has eased my mind so much, it seems really confusing at first but I think once I keep on track with it I'll get the hang of it xx

If you get confused, post a pic of your chart and we will help you anyway we can 😊

Hi any chance you can help me please? I did post my own thread but didn't get any replies.

I usually take my temp at 5am when my alarm goes off but one morning I woke up at 3:45am needing the toilet so had to get up. Then I couldn't get back to sleep very well.

Should I have taken temp at 3:45am or should I take it at 5am regardless of how little I had slept after I got up?

When I took my temp at 5am it was high and shows a spike on my chart.

sar1988 · 25/08/2019 10:29

@PerfectPear I've read you should take your temp when you wake after at least 4-5 hours of sleep. So I would say you should have taken it when you first got up xx

Sparkle0109 · 25/08/2019 12:22

@Perfectpear I would use the first one if you didnt really get back sleep after cause it's meant to be after 4 consecutive hours of sleep however, on your chart make a note that you woke up in night

PerfectPear · 25/08/2019 13:22

Thank you for the help, I'll make a note and try to remember next time

Hi AL,
It really does take a couple of cycles to see any pattern so it’s maybe a little early to see anything clearly. It might be that today’s reading is the increase seen just after ovulation but you will need to sustain that rise for another few days to be sure.
I think it was maybe three cycles until I a)was good enough at taking my temperature that there weren’t just tonnes of anomalies, and b) that I could see a pattern and therefore pinpoint ovulation.
I’ve been using bbt for over two years now. Initially as a contraceptive and more recently as a conception aid - it really is great when you get used to it. Good luck

Sparkle0109 · 25/08/2019 22:42

Going by your temp rise it looks as though ovulation POSSIBLY happened yesterday however as someone else has mentioned for it to be confirmed you need to have the temp rise for a couple more days

AmyLouise · 26/08/2019 12:13

Thank you ladies, I took my temp this morning and it rose to 98.7 but my question is, I did the deed on cycle day 15 then again cd17 but if I've ovulated cd19 and DTD again cd20 what are my chances of conceiving this month? I'm sorry for all these questions I'm just completely thrown off as I thought I ovulated last week and AF was meant to be due on 01/09 but I guess if I have ovulated later than what I though I guess it changes my AF date completely xx

If you had a rise like that I would say it's pretty certain you ovulated.
You still have a good chance, in the right 'environment' sperm can live upto 5 days.
I've always heard it's best to DTD below ovulation so that swimmers are already there waiting for the egg

Good luck !

Hi Op!

I tracked BBT For 4 months before I conceived.

Keep thermometer by your bed, keep completely still whilst taking temp and take at same time every morning.

What app are you using? Can I recommend you use Fertility Friend? It's the most common used one and I found it really simple to use.

Remember BBT can only tell you when you ovulated, not when you didn't. You need 3 readings of a substantially higher temp to be able to determine O. I was lucky, I would get a dip (which I noticed after a couple of months) on the day that I was due to ovulate. I then knew I had 14 days for AF to show. Was much easier to plan around testing etc as some months I didn't ovulate until late.

If I were you, I would be DTD between cd 11/18 everyday until you see a pattern form.

I am now 40 weeks pregnant today! Thanks to BBT tracking.

Good luck!

AmyLouise · 26/08/2019 15:06

Thankyou so much ladies, I DTD everyday from cd10 til cd18 and then once on cd20 I'm hoping that will be enough this month, if not ill definitely start tracking it more often. I'm using ovia at the mo but I think I'll start trying fertility friend as I've heard good things about that app. I think I'll wait and see what happens, awh congratulations on your pregnancy Hun xx
