Hi everyone
So a little bit of background, I'm 22 been with my boyfriend for 7 years and I'm going in to my final year of university. I have been on the pill (microgynon) for 6 years now. Once I graduate and me and my boyfriend move in together we'd both like to start thinking about having children.

I'm really worried after hearing stories of people who have been on the pill for a long time and then come off it and struggle to conceive, don't have periods etc. What's everyone's experiences with this? How long before TTC should you come off the pill??

I know everybody's bodies are different but I've heard so many stories of how the pill has messed up people's periods and made it difficult to convince which is making me really worried!

I conceived first month off the pill, aged 32 after being on the pill for 16 years. Obviously everyone is different, but my gp said that the pill doesn't really affect fertility and that it can return straight away or at worst, within a few months.
If you came off the pill now then there is a risk you'd get pregnant before finishing uni, so weigh that against the risk of taking a few months to regulate your cycles after coming off the pill next year. You're still young, so a few months are not going to make a huge difference in the long run.
