DNA Sperm Fragmentation

Hi All,
My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 2 years and recently did a DNA sperm fragmentation test, which came back 30% (1% higher than normal range). The doctor wasn't alarmed at all but could you help me understand how bad is this and if there are any success stories out-there?
My husband's lifestyle is very healthy, he eats really well, does a lot of sports, doesn't smoke, rarely drinks but has quite a stressful job. We were referred to Dr Ramsay (the appointment is in early September). If the DNA fragmentation doesn't change soon, our doctor advised us to go do IVF with ICSI.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Dr Ramsey is the best in the business so hopefully he can help.

Your husband could try a supplement like Profertil but with that level of fragmentation natural conception is very very unlikely and hence the suggestion of IVF/ICSI.

In terms of getting and staying pregnant in case of sperm with high fragmentation, it's more likely the younger the woman as young eggs can sort of repair the DNA.

Thank you JoJo! I'm 31 and my husband is 35, I'm in good health, the only issue I have is that I have an underactive thyroid (Hashimoto's).
Do you have any experience with this or do you know anyone who went through IVF with a similar DNA fragmentation?
I wanted to understand what are the chances of conception even with IVF and if there's a high chance of having a baby with developmental delay or any other issues.

That's brilliant that you're only 31 which really ups your chances of having good embryos. I'm sure it's perfectly possible to have an ICSI baby if DH's fragmentation levels aren't too far from the cutoff.

A good website with a wealth of info and IVF diaries etc is Fertility Friends. There's also an infertility section on Mumsnet where you might be more likely to come across so with a similar experience.
