TTC 8 months :(

Hi all,

I have 2 daughters aged 13 and 10. After my 10 year old I had a mirena for 5 years, then replaced again for another 5 years. I had this removed in Dec to start ttc. In March I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks. Other than that I've had nothing.

Can the mirena cause damage having it in so long? Does it take long to get back to normal as it was in for 10 years?

I'm nearly 34 so I know time isn't on my side :(

Thanks in advance

Following this.

I have no idea of it causes long term problems.
I had mine in for 5 then 2 years. Have got 2 Daughters aged 7 and 10. We are now trying for third. I had the coil taken out beginning of July. I am 36.

I hope you have some luck soon x

Generally the coil doesn't cause too many issues and is totally reversible. I know it's been 8 months, but it hasn't been, as you were last pregnant in March. And I'm aware of how shitty that is as I had two chemicals during my first year of ttc...

80% of couples will conceive within a year. That's only 4 out of 5. And you have. The statistics are still on your side. I'm sorry you find yourself in this position though.

I really think there should be a way of teaching women to have low expectations about ttc, but then they also need to be aware that sometimes it only takes once. I would have heard the struggles and ignored the stories of how easy it was. I think there would be a lot of unplanned pregnancies if that was the educational emphasis...
