TTC after early miscarriage

Hiya, I had medical management for an early miscarriage at the start of July, my periods have always been irregular so I struggle to know when I’m ovulating. I’m so desperate to fall pregnant again after going through all of the heartache of losing one so early.

Any suggestions on how to figure out when I’m going to ovulate? Should I be using ovulation tests every day?

Thank you xx

Hey, I've been in your shoes recently.

My doctor recommended to wait one cycle before trying again in order to reboot everything.

About ovulation, lots of different techniques to find out.

  • opk's are great, that's what I use because I need to know I'm going to ovulate. The digital ones are fairly expensive but I find them more reliable and they spare you having to squint at lines trying to figure out which one is actually darker.
  • temping - taking your basal body temperature first thing in the morning and charting. 2 big inconvenients - it tells you only after you ovulate, and you have to go through the hassle of temping and charting (and wondering of waking up early/late could impact the results).
  • monitoring your cervical mucus. This is both cheap and fairly reliable, though not quite as reliable as tests. It will also warn you later than tests (I have positive tests a good 24h before I notice any change in cm). Also people produce varying amounts of mucus so this wouldn't work as well for everyone.

So long story short, you need to pick the method that works best for you. For me it's defo the tests because I can afford them and I need time to get to the clinic, but for other people the other two methods will be just as good.

Thank you for the advice, Ive recently bought the cheap opk's as I have the digital ones too but they are expensive! Ive also just ordered a basal thermometer so will give that a go too. Its so frustrating just not knowing as my cycle length varies so much. I had 2 days of spotting/very light bleed over the weekend so assume that was AF, eventhough they normally say that your first period after a miscarriage can be very heavy! We will see, good luck to you xx

Sorry Thanks

I literally threw everything possible at it to boost our chances after my MC.

I let 1 cycle roll over before trying again. And from there I did all of the suggested things to track ovulation; digital OPK's from cycle day 7, tracked temperature, monitored cervical mucus closely (google pics for how it should look at each stage of your cycle if your unsure, a bit tmi I know!) and when I wasn't pregnant again by cycle 3, I did acupuncture.

We did the sperm meets egg technique (kinda takes the fun out of things, for the woman anyway) and I used pre seed lubricant (didn't tell DH I was planning on using it as was trying to keep things somewhat fun) Made DH quit smoking and had him eat loads of spinach as read it helps sperm quality (?)

Got pregnant again on 4th cycle

Oh and the pregnacare conceive supplements for both myself and DH

Good luck!!! X
