How long after a late period should you test?

I am normally regular and have a 30 day cycle, occasionally it will be out by 1-2 days.
I am now 4 days late (day 34 in cycle). I took a pregnancy test yesterday and it was negative. How long should you normally wait to test for accurate results?
DH and I have been using condoms so I shouldn't be pregnant but I am late and worried!
Thank you!

What test did you use?

They should be positive by now.

Thank you! It was the Tesco own brand one that I used.
Do you think that means I'm just late randomly this time and not pregnant?
I would love to have a baby but DH doesn't think it's the right time Sad

I got a strong positive when I was 6 days late. First test I took. Took another test next day and blue line came up stronger. X2 box Sainsbury’s own.
Wait til your a week late then test again.. Good luck!

@sunandshine Do you track ovulation? It could be that you ovulated a bit late this month so you're due on a bit later as a result

@Ohana6419 Dh and I haven't been trying really so I have no idea when I would normally ovulate either. Feeling a bit clueless about it all Blush.
I haven't got any symptoms other than sore boobs though. I guess it could just be late. Maybe you're right and I've ovulated later this month for some reason.
