Not ovulating :(

Ok so I’m using OPKS sand haven’t had a proper positive since May.

May period was 2nd May. June period was 2nd June. July period was 5th July so periods seem fairly regular.

Just has thyroid test as part of something else and blood work cake back fine. Has a scan for PCOS years ago before DD1 came along so don’t think it’s that.

Is it normal, as in can sometimes happen, to not ovulate for 2 consecutive months? I know 1 is normal but 2?!

I’m just a bit worried about it?! Any advice?

Thanks in advance :) xx

Did you have the 21 day bloods to confirm you weren't ovulating?

Speak with gp for further advice if definitely not ovulating

It is possible to miss the lh surge / positive and still ovulate @Pinkflame1 how often do you do opks and what time of day? Do you track your bbt? That can help confirm ovulation. But a blood test is a definite way to see if you are ovulating.

How old are you and what’s your BMI? My consultant told me age and weight are the two most likely factors for anovulatory cycles. And yes you can have more than one in a row unfortunately. Maybe next cycle ask for the 21 day blood test as that is a good indicator of a successful ovulation. But the only way to know for sure would be to have a scan to see if a corpus luteum is present. Good luck!

In addition to bbt, some women have success tracking ovulation using a Fitbit to track their resting heart rate. Ferning also works (haven't seen it mentioned in a year or so though...) but is a huge faff...

Thanks all, no blood tests were as a result of fatigue, muscle and headaches but it included thyroid - nothing fertility related though.

After a bit more reading I wonder if I’ve missed it by testing at the wrong time/ too much liquid in advance etc. Although I didn’t do anything different in May and managed to get a positive test.

I haven’t been checking bbt yet but I think from next af I will.

BMI probably a little overweight but nothing drastic and age 30 so nothing that would suggest an issue there - good to know a consecutive anovulatory cycle isn’t unheard of though.

I recommend taking BBT to confirm ovulation actually happened. It could be you have a short surge and are missing the positive OPK.

Good luck !

Pinkflame1 · 28/07/2019 13:03

So Friday and Saturday I had positive OPK’s so ovulating late after a month of no ovulation (I think) May be a hormonal imbalance but at least it seems I’m ovulating 🤷🏽‍♀️ X

You can have positive opks and not actually ovulate. The strips only tell you that your body is gearing up to ovulate, not that it actually has. The clearblue ones that test dual hormones are probably more accurate. Hopefully when you start taking your bbt next cycle you’ll get a clearer picture as to whether or not you have ovulated.
