5th MC! Keep trying or keep my legs crossed and go to the Coventry Implantation Clinic?

I've just had MC no.5 happen, I had 3 before DS was born, was seen at the Manchester RMC but no reasons found. I conceived DS within 3 months of the the 3rd MC and the pregnancy went swimmingly. I naively thought my MC woes were behind me but I've had a chemical pregnancy and a baby not grow beyond 6 weeks since then.

I am wondering if high NK Cells are to blame and have heard that a MC kinda clears everything out down there including NK cells for a few months, hence successful pregnancies soon after MC. So I am wondering whether to have a few months of TTC or go straight to the implantation clinic as soon as I can?

Anyone else had this dilemma? What did you do?

Sorry about your losses. Interesting question. I just had a D&C (3rd mc in a row). Don't feel like waiting, hoping the D&C will clear everything out. I'm ovulating this week. Not sure what to do...

Coventry clinic. I had 4 mc (3 of them required an ERPC/D&C), went to Coventry, fell pregnant the cycle after the visit and had DC1 following the treatment plan (clexane and progesterone as no issues were found).

A few years later fell pregnant with surprise DC2, did the treatment plan again and another successful pregnancy.

I hope it works out for you.

@AxCap thanks for sharing such wonderful news. I've never heard of the Coventry implantation clinic. I'll have to google it. Is it expensive?

AxCap · 18/07/2019 10:51

It's Professor Quenby if you're googling although it was actually Prof Bossens that I saw on the day. It was back in 2014 we went and it was roughly £300. That includes consultation, test for uNK cells and follow up call for results along with a paper copy and treatment plan to take to GP to get the drugs. We're in Scotland so I then had the clexane and progesterone on prescription so free.

Good luck, I remember how desperate I felt and immediately felt better as they actually listened and said we'd get there rather than fobbing me off with "it's just bad luck" which we got at the hospital/GP.

Thank you @AxCap. The EPU referred me to the RMC but not sure they'll test for this. I have had a baby already to my DH so not sure it's the NK cells that's the problem with me. On my 3rd loss now in 3 cycles.

AxCap · 18/07/2019 20:39

@KCM99 Thanks

Our RMC didn't test for that and didn't find any issues. However I'm sure there's something to do with me as DC1 I stopped clexane at 16 weeks but ended up with severe PE and the placenta failed (poor blood flow so was grainy etc) so
DC1 was a tiny preemie. With DC2 I stayed on clexane and aspirin most of the way and had no such issues. Maybe just luck but I'm not sure.

The thing with the nk cells theory for some ladies is it’s variable and can go up and down in a sort of cycle so you can have cycles where the level is ok and you can sustain a pregnancy, some cycles where there are too many and some with too few so you don’t get implantation or the pregnancy miscarries. I had the two biopsies last year with Coventry, they were great, very knowledgeable, had low nk cells the first biopsy and high the following, prescribed steroids and progesterone for future pregnancies but unfortunately lost another couple since so waiting on results from d&c and karotyping, but have dd after first mc but six since. Good luck x

@AxCap and @Widdendream77 thank you for your stories. Bless you all ladies reading this with your losses and struggles. Ttc is heartbreaking and joy filling. A journey we choose because we yearn to have our babies in our arms. May you all be blessed with another little baby and including OP.

@AxCap NICU & SBU do amazing jobs. My littlest one was very ill when born and was there for just a week and he survived and was allowed home. They let me stay in the granny flat on the last night
with him to see if
I'd cope ok feeding him etc. He's 5 now and a delight. He has a partial chromosome deletion, autism, scoliosis, low muscle tone, developmental delays. He's a fighter and a delighter, super cute. He said to me earlier "Mummy I'm gonna keep you forever"

Bless you all
