Can someone who uses clear blue digital ovulation tests answer a few questions if possible please...

1.how many tests to you need per cycle?
2.When do you start testing?
3.do you use cheaply opk's too?
4.where do you buy yours from?
5.have you found them reliable?

  1. What time to you test with them? I know they're quite pricey so wouldn't want to waste loads!

Thank you!! 😊

I use the advanced tests - find them so much more convenient. To answer your qs:

  1. I usually use about 5 per cycle. My cycle is usually between 29 - 33 days, so not a huge variation. I had one weird cycle when I had continual flashy smiles so I just gave up in the end!
  1. Usually start on about day 11, knowing I usually ov at around day 16. Generally start at the beginning of my fertility window on Clue.
  1. Nope - I find cheapies such a faff and it seems really easy to miss the surge.
  1. Amazon.
  1. Yep. That one weird cycle, I think it was my body malfunctioning rather than the tests!
  1. First thing in the morning, with FMU. They check for 2 different hormones & it's advised to use FMU.

I like them because my cycle is predictable enough so it's really just a case of pinpointing ov in a relatively small window. Doing the test first thing is really convenient too. Use the same holder each month, because apparently it gets to "know" you.

If you have long, unpredictable cycles I can see how it could be an expensive exercise! I had already been tracking with Clue for quite a long time, so had a fair idea of what was happening with my cycle, which helped.

@HelloBrass ahhh amazing! Massive help thank you so much!

My cycles are starting to regulate lately so I have a vague idea of how they go, sometimes that can be a bit long but I've been coming on every month which is a good sign! I'm gonna give these a go and see what happens. Thank you again x

@susso

  1. I usually use about 9 per cycle. My cycles are 31-35 days long.

  2. I start testing around cd12. When I get high flashing I sometimes do them in evening too to try and catch the surge.

  3. Yes I use cheapies also.

  4. I get cheapies from Amazon and clear blue from Dr Fertility online.

  5. I've found them to be a mixed bag in reliability. I used to always get peak but in Feb I got 9 days of flashing and gave up. I'd already ovulated and didn't catch the surge but did fall pregnant. In May (after mmc) I got loads of highs but no peak. Only stopped testing when my temp confirmed ovulation. This cycle I got 5 lows, a high on Tuesday and then ovulated later on that day, no peak detected yet again.

  6. I use them with fmu and if I tested twice it'd be around 6pm.

  1. I can use as many as 10 - bloody expensive! However I ovulate anywhere from day 10 to day 17 so had to start testing cycle day 8/9
  2. Cycle day 8/9
  3. I Do now. My ivf clinic wouldn't let me use digital OPKs and said from their experience they can be late detecting the LH surge. I have an app Premom where you take a photo of the test strip and it tells you if it's low/high/peak and plots it on a graph so I actually prefer them now and they are A LOT Cheaper - I've thrown all my digitals away including the expensive Bluetooth one!
4 boots and used to stock up on double points days 5 I had a lot of success previously with them (5 pregnancies 4 mc) but actually have had had even better success with the cheap strips in recent months (Pregnant 2 our of 3 Months have used the cheap strips - mc one bit currently 5+1 with a new pregnancy) 6 once a day until get a flashing smiley. If I've got other signs ovulation is getting near eg EWCM then I'll do twice a day as 90% of the time I get my LH surge in the evening and if I didn't test twice a day I would miss it

I'm 47

Been using clear blue opk dis hormones for ages

Cycle usually 28 -31 days

Start testing cd 9
Usually use 5 tests max

Usually get peak cd 13 or similar

Not working for me but got pg at 44 and tried since but no luck tho tests seem very accurate

I got pg @44

Wasn't successful as baby had downs

Nothing since .

hellenbackagen · 05/07/2019 22:19

Oh and I find them extremely accurate and I use cheaper tests to verify.

I'm just too old now to get pg.

susso · 05/07/2019 23:16

Thank you all for the great advice! Bought myself one tonight from amazon so we'll see how it goes! Hoping for some success with it as I'm honestly getting to the end of my tether now!! Fingers crossed! Also good luck to those of you TTC or pregnant xxx

I would say it depends really how long your cycle is .. I have a 28 - 29 day cycle and used roughly about 6? I started to test between CD8 and CD10 with cheapies and when I notice the line getting darker I take over with the CB. I normally buy mine from Amazon or Ebay as they are on offer alot of the time. I would highly recommend them ! I was useless at actually guessing if the cheap OPK were positive or not so the CB took all the guessing out of it.

Good luck!!

susso · 08/07/2019 09:27

@Sparkle0109 thank you! My cycles are ranging from about 30-35 days normally so I'm expecting to use a few more as at the minute I'm not sure when I ovulate. I'm gonna give them a go and see how I get on! Thank you again 😁
