On cycle day 56 PCOS

Hey all, new here. I'm hoping for a bit of advice please. My partner and I are ttc but I have pcos. I'm on cycle day 56 and still have had no sign of period, my longest cycle was 67 days since being diagnosed. We have only dtd once in the past two months. I took a test on cycle day 37 (22 days after we had sex) and it was negative. I've been having slight nausea, and feeling so fatigued. Is it likely that I'm pregnant or just pcos symptoms and I'm having a long cycle again? I'm too scared to test again, pretty sure it would be negative as surely a positive would have shown by then right?

Thanks in advance for your advice :)

Hi @Cazalena, how long have you been TTC? With cycles that long there is a chance you aren't ovulating. I have PCOS with average 35 day cycles (though in the past 12 months they have been anything from 29 - 44 days). If you haven't already, I'd suggest seeing your GP for confirmation that you are ovulating. They can do blood tests to confirm this. Have you only recently been diagnosed? It sounds very unlikely that your symptoms are pregnancy related but not impossible x

Hi @UnapologeticallyUnsociable thank you for your reply. :)

We've been on and off trying to conceive since last August. I was diagnosed with PCOS in December, my longest cycle of 67 days was last August, but they've been anything from 24-55 days long.

I think maybe I'd be getting my hopes up to think I'm pregnant just because I feel nauseous and fatigued, could be other explanations. I'm not sure if I'm ovulating, I'm guessing not if my cycles are lasting this long?

You've been trying nearly 12 months so definitely worth a chat with your GP. Did your gynaecologist discuss conception with you when you were diagnosed? I was diagnosed 15 years ago (when I was 19) and they said to me that I'd need 'help' to conceive when the time came. We've been trying for 13 months now and in the process of being referred for fertility treatment (most likely Clomid to assist with ovulation). Depending on your age and whether or not you ovulate regularly and unaided, they might make you wait a little longer but as you have a confirmed diagnosis, that should help speed things up ☺️

I had my bloods taken and got an MMR jab yesterday so have been told to stop TTC for a month as it's a live vaccine. I hate the thought of missing an opportunity but definitely wouldn't take any chances x
