Asherman Syndrome - Recent diagnosis

Hi there,
I'm starting this as a new thread as I haven't seen any conversations about this since 2007.
I've just been diagnosed with Asmermans after recurrent miscarriages. I am about to undergo a hysteroscopy and am really scared that it won't work. I've had 2 miscarriages in a six month period and am terrified that this diagnosis is the end of the 'fertility road' for me.
I've been told so many times that it's rare condition and am hoping to find some support on here.
Xx

I haven't been diagnosed but after 4 MC it is a concern. What were your initial symptoms that led to diagnoses?

Hi @Thumbellini
My symptoms were really really light periods (1-2 days max) and with v dark blood following 2 miscarriages and 3 d and c's (one d and c wasn't successful so I had to have a second op).
I was really fearful and just had a 'feeling' that something had happened in the ops and that I had Ashermans (I had been warned about it as a risk when having multiple d&cs) but my GP dismissed my concerns as it's considered 'rare'
I ended up paying to see a specialist who scanned me and said my lining looked very thin and patchy which was indicative of scarring. I then had to have a hysteroscopy which confirmed that I had very bad scarring in my uterus - Ashermans syndrome. The specialist cleared the scarring (and did a laparoscopy to clear a bit of endometriosis as well) and said that without the procedure my chances of having a successful pregnancy would have been zero - my uterus was full of scar tissue!

My post op follow up scan was 2 weeks ago and the scarring has healed well but my lining is still v thin (6.6mm) so I'm about to embark on a trial with hormones to see if they can thicken it out.

I'm so sorry for your losses.
What are you symptoms? If you have had 4mmc I assume you have had tests done? If so then did they ever mention the thickness of your lining or anything like that?

I obviously don't know anything about situation but would say if you have any concerns push to have a hysteroscopy done. This will categorically confirm either way. Although I'd obviously much rather not have Ashermans at least now that I know I have it we can try to do something about it.

X
