Hi there. Brand new to this whole thing so I thought I'd come here for some advice. I came off cerazette last month (awful experience post-pill) and had my period on June 16th-20th. Today, I noticed a small pinkish dot in my knickers. Never had anything like that before so a little perplexed about what it could mean. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi @throughthemountains. Not sure if I can help, but I came off cerazette back in March, and had a withdrawal bleed after 3weeks. (Cerazette withdrawal symptoms are the worst!!!) Then 1st AF 4 weeks after that. Did you have a bleed before June's? Have you been TTC yet? xx

throughthemountains · 26/06/2019 18:58

Thanks for the reply! They really are awful. Just about feel myself.

I didn't have a bleed before June. What is an AF? Sorry. Total newbie Blush

We have been TTC since stopping the pill. So about 3 weeks before my period in June. I've just never experienced any sort of spotting before--before starting the pill or after coming off it a few years ago. I didn't know if it was some kind of ovulation bleed from what I googled.

No worries, happy to try and help. The first bleed after stopping the pill is called a withdrawal bleed- it's a bit like a fake period I think, so the next one you get (if you get one!) will be classed as your first period. I really don't think it affects fertility- but the spotting may just be because your body is getting back into its proper cycle...

I haven't heard about bleeding at the point that you ovulate, but I've read it's very possible to bleed at the point of implantation- usually around 8/9 days post ovulation I think (FYI this is often shortened to dpo). I think this happened to me as got a bfp at 9dpo, but spotted at 10dpo.

You'd usually ovulate around 14 days after your period I think- but everyone is different so you could have ovulated early and it be an implant?

Lots of info lol- I've been googling like mad since we started TTC.

And AF stands for Aunt Flow (period)- don't worry, I only started to pick the abbreviations up recently!

Has the spotting stopped? What colour was it? X

Should say you'd usually ovulate 14 days after the first day of your period :)

You can spot any time many women experience it regularly, coming off the pill can mess up your hormones even if you've never experienced it before.

So soon after a bleed I doubt spotting would be related to ovulation or pregnancy. Ovulation occurs around 14 before your period (it can be 12-16, depending on your luteal phase length which is the time between ovulation and menstruation) and if an egg is fertilised implantation can be 7-12 days after ovulation. I recommend charting temperatures and other signs throughout your cycle and using OPKs (ovulation predictor kits- you can get them cheap on eBay/amazon) so you can learn your cycle 😊

Thanks for all of this information. I'm going to get the ovulation kits and see how that goes 👌

also, get yourself a tracking app like fertility friend, ovia or glow. They will give you charts and analyse your info, glow in particular you can take a photo of an ovulation test strip and it will analysis and tell you if it's positive or negative 🙂

@throughthemountains no worries :) nice to help (sorry if your already knew all of it anyway!)

@codenameduchess Ovulation tests and an app are a great shout!

I started using the supermarket ones at first, but found them to get expensive pretty quickly. Last month I just used some from Amazon which worked fine (and were successful!). They were by a company called Cassanovum. Didn't use an app but would have been easier :)

Xx

@jendaw Not at all! Just the abbreviation help was useful. Congratulations on the success! 😘
