what's the ideal gap to leave?

Just had my first a few months ago. She's fantastic and I definitely want at least one more. Not sure what would constitute a good gap. Am 33 now, so obviously don't want to leave it for years. But understand having them too close together takes it's toll on your body.

Also interested in how siblings interact with each other. Am an only child so not sure what age gap would work best.

Two years works pretty well, because they'll be close enough in age to play together. Mine are 22 months apart and get on great most of the time. The first year with the two of them was tough but it's worth it now.

I have 19 months between my first two and I think that's a great gap - they are definitely good friends now.

Don't assume there is a perfect gap though or that you will conceive quickly. There is a 3 and a half year gap between my DS2 and 3 due to a miscarriage and a year trying to conceive. I don't think this is such a great ap but thee wasn't muvch I could do about it!

18 months between mine. Was hell for the first 12 months but now they are 4.5 and 3 am definitely reaping the benefits. They are great mates most of the time and play together loads. Just be prepared for a hard time at first.

11 months between mine! first 6mths were hard, now they are 2.5 and 3.5 and its great!

My first 2 are 2.5 years apart which I think is ideal, close enough to have played beautifully when they were younger and far enough away in age not to row like banshees all the time now (13 &11)

dd1 was 2 years and 10 months when her little sister was born. they play well now (they're 7 and 4) and I only ever had one in nappies at once. and no double buggy.

Agree with Bundle!

If the first day of the school holidays is anything to go by, then 3 years 9 months is definitely not the ideal age gap. They have fought and bockered with each other all day long today!

18 months between mine. 3ys and 22 months. They play together all the time now. It was great in the beginning as well because ds was still having afternoon nap and going to bed at 7pm. Double buggy is a pain but didn't use it much. I take single buggy and a sling and they switch between or walk. Will have bigger gap between 2 and 3 but I def think the smaller the better
