Help from a Cm expert (or if you've ever had the same!) :)

Hi,

So a little bit about me (background)

I'm ttc #1
Cycle 2
Stopped pill mid March
Early miscarriage/chemical last month

So I'm 4dpo today and yesterday my Cm was sticky which was the same last month but today it's almost like a cross between sticky and ewcm, it's white and stretchy and slightly slippery, then parts are just sticky. Never seen white and stretchy like ewcm so not sure why to make of it. Anyone know or had similar.

Also want to add no smells or infection 😁

Thank you! 💕

(Can post a pic but it's around lunchtime so I thought I'd see if anyone needed a pic to help first 😊)

I can't speak to your exact EWCM but I would say that sometimes tracking CM isn't the best way to pinpoint ovulation. For example, mine never seemed to follow a pattern and was never, ever stretchy - just watery and I didn't have much of it. I became obsessed with trying to "improve" it, convinced it would stop me falling pregnant. It didn't - I fell pregnant very quickly.

This is the wisdom I gained in the depth of my CM obsession:

  1. Everyone swears by CM to track ovulation but for me it was a total headf* and NOT the best way of doing it. I much prefer charting my BBT and weeing on sticks: they're a lot less subjective.
  2. This article is really helpful as it addresses misconceptions I certainly had: www.readytogroove.com/blog/2016/07/06/confused-about-cervical-fluid-you-dont-have-to-be/#.XQhPNIgza1s
DEFINITELY read this article - it really helps! It also says definitively that fertile CM is not always stretchy - mine never was.
  1. I also found another article helpful as well as it said it isn't actually always the best indicator: www.todaysparent.com/getting-pregnant/what-your-cervical-mucus-reveals-about-your-fertility/

I know I haven't really answered your question but I always wished someone had told me this stuff when I was worrying about it so hopefully you'll nevertheless find it useful (and those articles should actually help!)

Hi @Abi58. I'm afraid I don't have advice but maybe experienced something similar this month. I stopped the pill in March but cycles have been long (and unpredictable) since. This cycle I was paying close attention (...!) to my cm. And basically it seems I had a little ewcm on and off for about 2 weeks from cd20 onwards. I know ewcm = fertile mucous, but if I only had a little on and off for so long I don't know what that means! I wonder if I was looking too hard for cm. Don't know when/if I ovulated during all of that!

Have you been using another way to track ovulation like opk or temping? That might guide you. But it's always possible you can ovulate later than you think.

@BaweB thank you so much that is all really useful! I'm only on cycle 2 so there is still so much to learn!

@Skyla01 yes I use opks and temp so pos opks were cd 13 and 14 and cd 16 I had my temp rise so I'm certain I ovd on cd15 - now cd19 and 4 dpo. It's just that it was a bit odd wasn't sure if anyone else had had something similar 😁

@Abi58 sorry I misread this - I thought you were CD4.

I think when I conceived my CM was a bit different - more of it and creamier (yuck!) But 4DPO is probably a bit too early for that.

Good luck!

@Abi58 sounds like you've tracked ov pretty well. I'm not sure why you have ewcm today, but those articles suggest there can be a lot of variation. Maybe yours is due to an oestrogen surge?
