Ovarian cysts and TTC

I've been TTC since February when I came off my pill (had been taking it for 10 years).

Last month I was admitted to hospital with what they at first thought was appendicitis but turned out to be a huge ovarian cyst which had ruptured.

Since then I've received multiple opinions from people in health care, from you'll struggle to conceive to it's caused by coming off the pill and you'll get pregnant no problem now it's ruptured.

My head is in bits and despite having really supportive friends they've all had caught on really quickly (1-2 months of trying) or by accident and none had anything like this.

Has anyone else had a cyst burst and conceived after?

Not had a burst cyst but had a laparoscopy last year with an 8cm cyst removed, fell pregnant quickly afterwards (had been not actively trying for 14 months ) sadly missed miscarriage at 12 weeks in October and been trying to conceive since with not a single bit of luck.

Had a pelvic ultrasound in March and lo and behold I have another 4cm cyst.

I'm going the Friday night to get it removed and fingers crossed I'll fall pregnant next month.

Some cysts give off hormones which prevent pregnancy. Did they do a laparoscopy following the burst cyst?

No, I've not had a laparoscopy.
They did an ultrasound through my vagina which is how they found the problem. I was completely unaware I had the cyst until it burst and I ended up in hospital.
I've got to go for another ultrasound in 3 weeks to check if everything has healed as it should. But I won't get the results until at least 2 weeks after. I'm dreading the wait.

Good luck for Friday.

I had an ongoing problem with cysts, so I originally had one at 5.5cm, then I had one at 13cm and then I had another at 6cm (that they managed to se on ultrasounds anyway). At one point I was told It might mean having one of my ovaries taken out but further scans showed I had them on both sides. They slowly started to go and it took us nearly a year to conceive. I'm now 16 weeks pregnant with a baby girl

I had an ovarian dermoid that had damaged one ovary so badly, I lost the ovary & tube.

It didn’t stop me conceiving at 44 without intending too.

Assuming you are otherwise healthy, if you still have two working ovaries, I think the worry is more likely to prevent you conceiving than a cyst. Good luck.

I had 3 dermoids and my left ovary and tube removed in July last year and another dermoid removed from my right ovary, but tube and ovary were fine. We've been ttc for 5 cycles now (our timing has been shit!) but my consultant was reassuring that it wouldn't cause any issues with fertility.

🤞 for you. I'd maybe talk to your GP or consultant if you have one just for some reassurance xx

I had a cyst burst at 7 weeks pregnant, worst pain I have felt ever! My pregnancy will now be a 1 yr old nutty little girl in a matter of days 😁
I had 3 early miscarriages prior to that, trying for 2 years unfortunately, but worked out ok in the end! There is plenty of hope x

Thankyou every one it's reassuring knowing people going on to conceive.

The conflicting advice is between my consultant and gp. So medically it feels as clear as mud.

I think you're right about the worry. We waited until the timing was perfect to TTC, made sure everything else in life was sorted so it feels we've been waiting forever.

Hopefully good news at the scan.
