Weeing straight after sex VS laying flat with hips on a pillow....Thoughts?

Okay so I've read a few contradicting articles about waiting after sex and putting you hips on a pillow to let gravity help the little swimmers. Some articles say this is a myth and others say it really does help. Now I've always been told by my doctor to pee straight after sex to avoid getting a urine infection, which unfortunately I'm prone to. I'm on my third cycle of TTC and I'm wondering if laying flat with pillow under my hips or legs in the air for 10-15mins is worth doing or not. Thoughts?

Hi @Carysmatic, I haven't managed to concieve yet but a good friend of mine is a doctor and I had a similar conversation with her. Although it is apparently a myth, the hip thing can't hurt so I anyways try to stay still. I am prone to UTIs as well and she told me that as long as you don't go to sleep and not pee until morning, waiting 15 minutes to get up shouldn't cause a UTI. I say lay there and relax then sort yourself out before sleep

I lay with my bum on a cushion for 20 mins after and we got pregnant 2nd month of trying.

I did a raised hips yoga style pose, got pregnant first try and I was 38. In retrospect, no idea if my contortions that did the trick, but I was convinced at the time that it must have helped!

The sperm reach the cervix very quickly following ejaculation so you are safe to wee. It may be better to have sex involving deep penetration so there is less distance to cover

Wee, because a uti can cause problems in pregnancy.
