Clear blue opk?

After 15 months of breastfeeding, AF is back Grin (I'm sure the novelty will wear off pretty quick Wink).
I've used 2 different ovulation prediction calculators and got different windows Hmm thinking of getting an OPK. I like the look of the clear blue one... It looks fool proof with the smiley face rather than some others. Is it a one use type thing like a pregnancy test?
Any OPKs in particular recommended? First DC took 6 months so venturing into OPKs.

I can't comment about the clear blue ones as haven't used them but bear in mind you might need to use 2 a day for several days to catch a surge, so bear the price in mind! I bought some wondfo cheapies from Amazon- box of 50 OPKs and 20 preg tests as it just came to £15.

I used the ClearBlue one but also used the cheapy sticks alongside.

The ClearBlue you have a holder and put a new stick in each day, single use, just like a pregnancy test. You need to use it for a few days before it finds a base level I think. I found it very accurate.

@ohana6419 thanks. 2 a day? So would you test say morning and night? Does it vary much in a single day?
@tisonlymeagain thanks, does it come with many of the strips? Am v conscious of the price.

Sorry to sound daft, am new to OPKs.

@Namechangeymcnamechange11 I used them for two months and definitely had enough left for a third. I guess it depends when you start testing?

Namechangeymcnamechange11 · 10/06/2019 17:31

Oh I see. I'm planning to start at the first date of my 'fertile window', which is different according to two different calculators, so I guess 5-6 days per month taking that into account? That doesn't sound as bad price wise as it could last that long. Thank you :)

@Namechangeymcnamechange11 Sometimes your surge can only last a few hours. When I got my positive this month, I had tested the night before which was negative, was positive the next morning and then negative again by the next evening, so I'd have missed it if I didn't temp twice that day!

I used internet cheapies from about CD10 until they were getting darker, when I thought they were looking nearly positive I used the clearblue OPK until I got smiley face

BaweB · 11/06/2019 03:32

I prefer the cheapies - I only used the clear blue ones twice and the second time they were a week out for ovulation and showed peak fertility 10 days before I ovulated...I know this because I double checked on a cheap one when I normally ovulate and it was strongly positive, oh and then I fell pregnant! I'd say save your money!

The cheap ones work perfectly for me. My surge is some tunes really short so I use 3 a day. I test from Cd 8 and gave never had a problem with them. If cist is important then ICs all the way. I find them very easy to read.

Sparkle0109 · 11/06/2019 19:00

Yeah say 10 days into cycle. CD1 being the first day of AF

Namechangeymcnamechange11 · 11/06/2019 20:45

Ohh I see, CD = cycle days.
It's like a whole new lingo Blush
