Getting pregnant!

Hello! Just wondering if there’s anyone out there that can give some advice!/ if anyone’s been in a similar situation.

My partner and I have been trying to get pregnant for 5 months now. We have a big age gap - I’m 25, he’s 42 but he has a 11 and 7 yr old from a previous relationship. I’m slightly overweight size 14/16 but other than that have previously been told that my reproductive health looks good!

Just feeling slightly disheartened and worried about not being pregnant yet! Should I be??

I've seen statistics which say that even if you're DTD on the perfect day each month (I.e O-1, O-2) your chances of conceiving that month are only 30% at best. The rest of the month, the chances are even lower if not zero.

That's not said to discourage you, but that's why they say that even a healthy couple can take up to a year to conceive. It's just a luck thing.

I'm only on cycle 1 and already stressing out about it, so I can only imagine how frustrated you are at 5 months in, but I just wanted to reassure you that it doesn't mean there's something wrong if it takes a few months.

I guess all any of us can really do is try and get the science bit right so we're DTD at the right time, and then hope that luck does the rest! I hope you get your BFP soon!

Took us 6 months to get pregnant (miscarried) so starting again.
Average is 6 months to a year is considered normal

Took us 8 min

Oh crikey definitely didn't take us 8 minutes!!

8 months I mean, then it ended in a missed miscarriage.

Took me 1 try and then 3 tries. But both of us are crazy fertile and so are our parents and grand parents.

But I know loads of couples who've taken 6 months+ to conceive and they're all healthy with no fertility problems. I know we're in the small minority of people to get pregnant quickly.

Thank you all for your responses! Trying not to stress about it too much as I was on the pill for 3 years beforehand as well, only coming off it in Oct 2018 and we started trying jan 2019. Think I just hoped in my head it would happen in a couple of months, plus my personality type is used to being organised and able to control things strategically so need to learn not to stress and know I’ve just got to be patient! Thank you again
