fertility blood results and Sterlisation reversal

Hi
Just joined here today. I'm wanting to have my sterilisation reversed and try for a baby with my partner. I had blood results for fertility done last year and an 42. I don't have a clue what any of them mean but was told at the time they were all fine. Costs of private reversal has meant delaying it until now but I'm worried I will be too late! Can anyone help with understanding what rhe results mean and or any advice on having my reversal done. I have previously had successful pregnancies, just not a successful marriage and my partner and I would like to conceive asap. Thanks for any help

You would need to tell us your results for us to be able to offer any advice?

At 42 please be aware that odds of IVF success are only around 2% for your age group and I don't know how a previous sterilisation would also affect that x

I got a bunch of tests done for other issues, anaemia etc but think it's serum oestradiol , progesterone, prolactin and gonadotrophin. In results order as above
180pmol/L
Less than 1nmol
170mu/L
FSH 8 our
LH 3.3

It's like a while new language I don't understand! IVF is an option but funds are limited so trying reversal first . Have been advised that IVF would be a better option if my levels were low but as I say I don't understand them! Thanks

I would say it's really only the progesterone and FSH level which matter? Did they not do your AMH level as well?

It also really depends on what day these were taken in your cycle?

A progesterone level of over 30 in a woman is an indicator that they have ovulated so a level of 1 you would expect to get on day 1 of your cycle - if you had these taken on day 21 however your results would suggest you didn't ovulate that month

Your FSH level looks to be in the normal range for your age group

You would also need your AMH level to assess whether you have an average ovarian egg reserve left or not? AMH levels decrease as we get older as the number of our eggs that are left decrease. Having low AMH also indicates that IVF would likely be less successful/more difficult as you would get much lower quantities of viable eggs

X

I would say at 42 time is very much against you. I would be tempted to go straight for IVF. Sterilisation reversal is risky and possibly will not work. Save the money from that to going straight to IVF.

Did you have your tubes tied as part of the sterilisation? If so I would also go straight to ivf as the chances of having an ectopic pregnancy are really high in those situations

They were cut as far as I know. Choice wasn't mine, ex husband made it on my behalf.

Thankyou for your replies. I had the tests done a while back so may go back and get them updated as well as the amh. I think IVF is better in the long run .
