I’m hoping there may be someone out there in the same boat!
I’ve been off the pill for 6 months ish, had one withdrawal bleed then 1 period in January then nothing at all.
I had irregular cycles before I went on the pill but nothing like this, that was 10 years ago.
I’ve had gp bloods, an ultrasound - all normal, no PCOS or anything. (Also did acupuncture for 7 weeks and nothing) I’ve just been referred to a gynaecologist who did a cervical exam and more bloods just waiting for those to come back to the gp. The consultant said it’s just “one of those things”. Doesn’t think it’s anything to do with the pill either.
Feeling pretty rubbish, I’m 30 and thought like most it would be easy!!! They said they’re going to refer me to fertility as they’re the only people that can prescribe clomid etc, but that will probably be another 6 months away. 2 of my best friends are pregnant now and they just managed it so quickly it’s so hard to be positive, and whilst I’m glad nothing bad has come back I’m don’t even know what to think about ttc.
Any words of wisdom would be massively appreciated x

Not much help, I have borderline PCOS (I think my testosterone is slightly elevated), I've had 3 children but very irregular periods (since my son was born three years ago I get a period every 5 months roughly), prior to my son I had periods every 6-12 weeks. The only thing I can advise when you have no idea when (or if) you are ovulating is to DTD at least every 48 hours so that you always have swimmers in you if an egg decides to make it way down. After a few months, this does get less fun but I found it effective.

I came off the pill in July 2010 and had a withdrawal bleed early August. We weren't TTC (I'd come off the pill because I didn't like it and we used condoms). I didn't have any tests or anything (went to GP around Christmas who said leave it til it had been 6 months). I fell pregnant (careless with condoms on holiday Blush) at the end of January 2011 having not had a period.

It can just take a while to get back on track after the pill but it's great your GP has you in the system now in case they don't make an appearance soon. I'd just go for it with TTC and do a test every 6 weeks or so to give a rough idea of dates. Hope your period comes back soon.

Thanks for your reply! Ah a happy accident then! I’ve read about people who have managed to conceive without periods, I always assumed it would mean you weren’t ovulating but obviously not always the case!
Yeah me too. The consultant said it wouldn’t be anything to do with the pill and hormones but my skin is still awful from coming off it and it definitely wasn’t like this before, so surely there must still be a bit of pill related problems going on somewhere!

It could be that the pill was masking other hormonal issues . Have they tested for prolactin and cortisol?

Sunshine2988 · 17/04/2019 14:58

beemybaby thank you that’s helpful to know as well, yeah that’s the thing it does definitely feel like work after a while. Doesn’t help that my husband does super long days at work either. I was thinking of getting one of those Ovusense things to try and plan more.
It’s good to know that no periods isn’t the be all and end all though!

Bigsexycrimeunit yeah they’ve done prolactin (waiting for the second result of this) no cortisol though?

I have crazy irregular cycles and after the initial withdrawal bleed it was around 70/80 days until I got another one. I started taking Angus castus and the cycles went down to around 35 days which was great. Maybe that's something to look into?

Sunshine2988 · 17/04/2019 17:52

Peanutty86 - yeah my mum brought me some as she’s into all her herbalist things, I didn’t take it as thought it might make things worse (as I’d read it could also lengthen as well as shorten cycles) but if there aren’t any cycles to begin with suppose there’s no harm in trying!
Did you just start taking it randomly? Obviously there’s no cycle with me so wasn’t sure if you are meant to take it at a certain time.

Yes I started as soon as they were delivered. And took the highest dose through the whole cycle until we started ttc, that's when I stopped after ovulation was confirmed with a temp spike and if there had been another cycle I just would've started with that one again and so on.
