Agnus Castus for very light and irregular periods?

Hello,

Have been TTC for 8 months now with no success. Came off the pill 8 months ago and my periods since they have been irregular and very, very light. Pretty much just spotting for 2 days and browny rather then red. Last 3 cycles have been 38 days, 32 days and last one 49 days.

Was wondering if anyone with very light periods has had success taking Agnus Castus? I would like to try as I've heard many success stories but wasn't sure about taking it as my periods are already so light and I don't want to make that worse. Worried I may not be ovulating (probably overthinking it!) I did OKP tests one month and got 2 postives 5 days apart.

Thank you for advance for any advice, don't know what the right thing to do is!

Have also been to my GP about it but she was pretty unhelpful and just said it was to do with my periods settling down after coming off the pill. Just want to speed this baby making process up!

I'm 33 BTW and have never been pregnant before.

Hey there, I just started taking it, I am 36 and ttc #1. I got recommended to take from my nutritionist to make my luteal and follicular phase more balanced. It's supposed to regulate your cycle so I think it could be good for you :) no harm in trying it good luck x

I didn’t have light periods but I was having very long cycles. One was 10 weeks! Next month on Angus cactus was 30 days. Next month I was pregnant. This was with child no3. I had needed clomid to conceive child 1. No 2 was natural.

@Headswim thanks for that , no harm in trying I guess! Good luck to you x

@MilkItTilITurnItIntoCheese that is incredible! That's given me the motivation to go for it. Thanks for getting back to me! x

Hey I just get from Amazon, and take two a day :)

Natures Aid PremEeze Agnus Castus, Vegan Society Approved, 400 mg, 60 Capsules https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00STMP68M/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_Ee5PCbW59K2G0

One thing that really worked for me to increase heaviness periods and regulate cycle was having fertility acupuncture. It felt like some kind of release and results were immediate.

I mean I'm not pregnant (2 cycles later) but fingers crossed x

@blueskydaze31 if all you have for AF is spotting, you should see a dr. I was worried mine were too light, so I did a ton of research on what's still acceptable to conceive and the answer was consistent - minimum two tablespoons (or two soaked tampons). If less than that, it's considered scant and close to impossible to conceive. And since your cycles are so irregular, it's another reason to see a dr.

blueskydaze31 · 06/04/2019 13:02

@KatBeCool thanks for that. Slightly terrifying about not being able to conceive. Were the doctors able to do anything for you to help you with that? I have already been to my GP but she just said it was coming off my pill and would settle down. I never thought it would take this long. My periods were regular heaviness when I was younger, I don't know if that means they will return to that one day, who knows. I'm feeling a bit sick at the thought of not being able to conceive.

@Headswim thanks for your tip on acupuncture. I'm definitely going to look into this Smile

@KatBeCool I'll go back to the GP but I am doubtful they will look any further at it until it has been over a year. Please tell me you managed to have some luck in the future?!

Sorry not the future, I meant in the end!

Do you know for sure whether you ovulate OP? I'd want to check that out asap, if I were you. If you've been TTC for 8 months already and your cycle is so erratic I'd be wanting it looked into now. If your GP is unhelpful I would ask to be referred to a consultant. I know you're 'only' 33, but if you need to conceive the younger you are when you start it, the better.

KatBeCool · 06/04/2019 14:54

@blueskydaze31 mine were borderline light, but not quite scant. However, they found my TSH was a bit high and I got prescribed levothyroxine. TSH can inhibit estrogen which, in turn, makes your lining too thin, which is why periods can be too light. While they may not help you with fertility yet, they will with finding out why your periods are light and doing all sorts of blood tests. Your TSH needs to be under 2. So don't get terrified yet, it could be an easy fix with a prescription.

@juneau thanks for reply. No I don't know I ovulate for definite, I did try OPK a couple of months ago and got 2 peak smiley faces a few days apart so I'm hoping that's a good sign but I know it doesn't confirm O, what do you think? I have start tempting this month so will see what comes of that. Got an appt with my GP this afternoon so hopefully will get slightly further forward this time! How long have you been TTC?

@KatBeCool I see what you mean. Got an appt with GP later today so fingers crossed it will get the ball rolling with some tests. Thanks for your input. 👍🏼

For anyone who may be interested in this I got my BFP this morning at 15DPO! First month of taking Angus Castus. Could be a conincidence but I think it definitely helped for me! 😊
