Chart experts - people who temp, help!

My chart does not seem to show that I have ovulated. I should have ovulated around day 14 and now its day 18, with no obvious jump in temperature. My temps seem to be steady with a slight up and down every day. Okay, I am not taking temperature at exactly the same time every day, but within an hour. I am worried I have not ovulated or maybe I am not producing enough progesterone to have a jump in temperature? Or is it normal for some people to not have a big jump and still be ovulating?

Can't see a chart to offer a useful analysis, but slow rises or 'stepped' rises are very possible (and can be very tricky to pinpoint ov).

A very spiky chart might be from a variety of factors, but I'd suggest trying vaginal temping to rule out inconsistencies due to mouth breathing or the like.

Try vaginal temping.

I don't see a pattern with your chart. Did last cycle look like this too?

If this is your first bbt cycle, it can take a wee while to get the hang of it.

Are you taking it after a decent block of sleep? Ie - as soon as you wake without moving? It takes a while to establish the pattern and you should try as far as poss to take st the same time within 30’mins. Or set an alarm - I had to do it this way. Good luck!

I am not sure if the thermometer is meant to put in the vagina? It is the first time temping. I think I will try and set an alarm next month. Problem is I usually have a child sleeping next to me...so never set an alarm. I either wake on my own or my dd or ds wakes me. Its usually within an hour. However, I do wake at night to take a wee and its sometimes like 3/4am so that might mess up the chart? Not easy to make sure I'm in bed the entire night with out taking a wee or with out a dc waking! I was hoping temping would be straightforward and not so difficult (I feel like I'm doing it all wrong when I have to pee in the night and get up or taking my temp not exactly the same time every night).

It is NOT easy to temp. So don't think that way. Many women do temp vaginally - just wash it after you take your temp.

Haypanky · 04/04/2019 13:48

I don't think your night time wee would be an issue, if you then sleep for a couple more hours. Just make sure you temp as soon as you wake, before you get out of bed.

Temping is straightforward once you get used to it. But it needs to be at a reliable time, and after a constant block. I used to do it at 5am even if I went back to sleep again as it’s the only way to guarantee an accurate temp. But it IS hard to get used to and lots of variables. It will probably take a few months to get used to and to establish a pattern tbh.

Also - you need to take your temp as soon as you wake. Without moving preferably.

StarlightIntheNight · 04/04/2019 14:08

Okay, will keep on temping and see if I can figure out a pattern! But also hoping, maybe luck will be on my side and I won't have to continue temping! :)
