Could I have endometriosis?

Just googled and it seems possible.
I have children, I’m in my late 30s. I don’t want any more children so that’s not an issue.
During my period I get shooting pains up my bum when I need to poop. And actual pooping can be very uncomfortable indeed. Sitting down can be a bit 😳 too.
I had the coil fitted a few months ago and it’s probably got worse since. Although, since I was a teen I can recall these bum pains every so often. I never had a problem conceiving.
Is it possible that I have endometriosis? I don’t want to bother my gp just yet if it’s just period pains

It's always possible. You'd need surgery to diagnose it. Average time between presenting to a doctor with symptoms and diagnosis is 7 years...

I am also experiencing this, so following to see the answers! I'm mid 30's have children, no issues conceiving. The last 12 months my periods have been horrible, so heavy and painful. This month especially I have noticed that pain trying to poop 🙄 it almost made me cry! I did have an internal scan a few months ago, can they confirm this from a scan?
I feel your pain OP

Endo is not normally visibly different from other tissues on a scan. So generally not diagnosable by scan - only by visual inspection during a lap.

Would this be diagnosed from a hysteroscopy?

physicskate · 13/02/2019 23:18

A hysteroscopy looks at the inside of the womb, which is where endometrial tissue is supposed to be!! So no, you'd need a procedure that examines the pelvic or abdominal cavity outside the womb... like a lap.

I've got endo, i had the worst end of it around 15/16 yrs old where I'd cry and couldn't stand up and ended up in hospital a few times with cramps but as the years went on I bled less and they became easier to manage. To get it diagnosed you need a small operation, then they also do the same procedure to get rid of it. I had 4 tiny cuts so it's not a bad op if they offer a diagnosis it's defo worth it

In my experience, it's worth going to the doctor now. They don't take it very seriously because they dismiss as period pains - start building a clinical profile so if it gets worse and you want actual treatment you can push for a laparoscopy. I have cysts, so it was diagnosable via ultrasound, but it took years (and a lot of pain and passing out from ruptured cysts) for anyone to take me seriously. In fact, I had to (at the time) lie and say o was TTC to get them to refer me.
