No periods - when to visit the GP?

So been on some form of hormonal contraception since I was 15, due to extremely painful periods. We decided to TTC last year, only met my partner late in life and I’m now 37

Stopped taking the pill in October, and have had no bleed since - not even a withdrawal bleed.

My skin is awful currently, and I can’t seem to control my weight so I know there’s something going on with my hormone levels - a cursory glance online suggests PCOS is a possibility.

When would you go to the GP?

Go to the GP asap no reason why you shouldnt. You need to no whats going on x

Thank you for the reply.

I thought I’d read that it would have to be 6 months with nothing before the GP would run tests? I could lie and say it’s 6 months I guess...

I’d probably have a chat with the GP.

Also, try a low-carb diet. For me, it helped control my weight and regularise my cycle. I break out a lot less when I eat like that too.

Thanks @Polly99

I’ve never tried a low carb diet, but it’s worth a go! I’ve never had bad skin previously but it’s awful currently.

Please don't lie. A doctor cannot properly assess your condition if you do. And it's just a shit thing to do.

Tell them your symptoms and let them decide the best course of action at this point. They may well do blood tests now to rule out (for instance) hypothyroidism.

Here's the NICE guideline. I wouldn't investigate until it had been 6 months off contraception, as above.

And don't lie.
We hate that shit.
