Hi all
Just wondering if anyone here has experienced anything similar, had a tfmr at about 14 weeks in 2016.

Since then periods changed and are now super heavy and lots of clots.

Been diagnosed with anaemia and very low folate levels recently, so in supplements.

Last month no period at all but now back to normal with a 28 day cycle .

Got pg very easily but I was 44 then and an now 46, although I was using opk (clear blue). And still got static smiley every month and regular periods - as I am now apart from last months blip which I'm putting down to my iron count of 3.

tmi warning
During tfmr placenta broke up and had to be removed in bits with tweezers . I did worry about retained product but bleeding stopped after 5 days and cycles returned to normal quite quickly (about 6 weeks)

I'm probably clutching at straws here but I've had a few , what appeared to be chemical pg....faint bfp on testing but then period as expected.
I'm wondering if the procedure has changed the womb lining as my periods are so bad now when they weren't before. Still only 5 days long and still regular at between 28 - 30 days . (Save last months blip but iron was dire)

I was actually thinking about requesting a d&c if they still do them....

I know I'm older and that probably explains everything but I have such regular cycles with definite ovulation (opks seem to prove it), had a few positive tests only to bleed as usual----I'm wondering if the lining of my womb is buggered and embryos can't implant?

Thoughts/musings welcome. Thanks

I'm really sorry, but I think egg quality is more likely to be the issue. Miscarriages, chemicals and tfmr are all more common as you age and are linked to quality issues. And there's not a huge amount you can do about it....

Have you tried ubiquinol in high doses? Some people swear by dhea (but I'd be wary as it can really mess with cycles and some people have horrendous side effects).

I'm sure you know that statistically at 46, it's unlikely even with a good cycle (egg quality). The celebs you hear about had either frozen their eggs or used egg donors. Would you want to consider the latter?

I think pp is probably right. My periods have changed each time after I was pregnant including following tfmr, when I did have retained products. I wondered all the same things as you about what might have changed in my body following termination. I did get pregnant again getting on for two years later and the only thing I’ve taken away from it is that there is no particular rhyme or reason to fertility. I did have a hsg to check my tubes for blockages and a scan, which showed pcos, which I knew about, as it was taking a while to conceive but I think it really was just ‘one of those things’. Very difficult for you though, if you’re anything like me it’s very easy to get fixated on the tfmr.

Hi OP, you need to read Period Repair Manual by Lara Briden. She has a whole section on flooding periods in peri menopause. I’m not suggesting you are near to menopause but it is common in forties to get this. She suggests amongst other things that iron actually lightens periods so I’m guessing that your seriously low iron is causing this. How long have you been on the supplements? It’ll take a while to build up your levels and have an effect on your periods. She also says thyroid problems can cause flooding periods so maybe get yours checked and to avoid cows dairy, alcohol and look after your gut bacteria. Her book is fantastic. Hope this helps.

Thanks all yes it's probably egg quality as you say and I have only just started cq10 and then only at 300mg

I'll look at dhea but not keen on anything that might mess Up
What are nice regular cycles

littlemimosa thanks I'll take a look at that. I've only been on the iron about 3 weeks so will just be starting to kick in , feeling less fatigued (I was just sleeping all the time)

I've had a recent scan and all looked normal my gp felt it could be fibroids but no treatment has been suggested.

I know it's highly unlikely now I just can't shake the feeling that I've got a last shot at it . Sometimes think I must be bonkers to even consider it anyway. I suppose I'm going to have to face facts . My baby days are probably done . I've discussed egg donation with partner but he isnt willing to go through anything like ivf again ( he tried before with his ex). Think it was all too much . As it is now we have a nice life, and sex is still very much for fun , which is a blessing as neither of us feels any pressure to dtd just to get pg. I track my cycles with one eye on an app but don't always look at it until I wonder when periods due , probably better that way. Smile
Had thorough bloods done December and no thyroid issues just very poor iron /folates. Which sent blood sugar high but seems stable now after another check. Had two scans 6 weeks apart as first showed a cyst left ovary but on rescan that had gone so could have been to do with ovulation.
I might just make another gp appt to discuss results but think that will be me done. Have to accept it I guess and enjoy what I've got now . ( I appreciate the lie ins and romantic getaways!). We've loads of work to do on the house so maybe should put my efforts into that!

Cheers 🌻
