My partner and I have been TTC. I am awaiting a scan as have had other tests that suspect PCOS due to hormone ratio and other factors.
My partner has just had results from SA and all good. Initially worried about what the total sperm count was going to be, but results showed 93.6 million/ml so fine.
Everything else also seems quite good, but sperm morphology flagged up as “low” with 1%, however, the GP receptionist relayed the message that it is satisfactory and no action required.
I don’t mean to sound negative about what seemed like a much better result than expected, but from what I’ve read about morphology, anything under 3/4% isn’t good and can impact IVF and conceiving naturally? Does anyone have any knowledge on morphology or any experiences with partners having a low morphology but still having success with natural conception/IVF?
I’d like to presume it’s not so bad as GP has said no action required, but it’s just playing on my mind! Anything related would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bear this in mind: 1 percent of 93 million is a much higher result than one percent with a count of 15 million (which is considered a low count). Results need to be looked at in their entirety.

While it might not be ideal, it doesn't seem terrible. I'm assuming your partner is looking at lifestyle changes?

Thank you both for replying.
Yes, I suppose you’re right. Hard to be positive when everything seems to be going against you!
That thought has made me feel a little better though and could explain why the GP was satisfied?
My partner doesn’t feel as though it’s a problem as he is happy with the fact the GP has said “no action required”.
Neither of us drink any alcohol or smoke, so that wouldn’t be an issue.
He’s taking Wellman tablets to try and help and I will be going for a transvaginal scan soon so fingers crossed there’ll be some light at the end!
Thank you so much for your help/advice.
