Not sure if this is the right place to post but I am trying to conceive. I've been working at a company now for 6 months, almost 7. Me and DH have decided to start trying for baby no 2. If I was to fall pregnant soon, would I be entitled to any sort of maternity? Could they refuse to take me back afterwards? How does it all work? I've read online that at most work places, you have to of worked there a year.. is this true?

You would be well within the window to receive some kind of maternity pay..

You are entitled to take a year off however long you’ve been there and they have to hold your job open for you, unless you want to make changes like go part time then they can try and find you something similar if the same job isn’t appropriate.
You’ll be entitled to statutory maternity pay at the least if you’ve been there long enough, which is basically 90% of your salary for 6 weeks and then about £146 a week for 33 more weeks if you earn at least £146 a week, if it’s less it would be to that amount. You have to have been working for at least 26 weeks by the 15th week before your baby is due.
Your workplace may pay an enhanced amount over that but you’d have to look at your work’s specific policies for that.
How old is your older child, did you take time off with them?

I've only been at my job for 3 months and am 5 weeks pregnant. I'll be entitled to statutory mat pay, some companies have restrictions on their enhanced maternity pay such as completing probation etc but for statutory pay you technically only need to have worked there for a week before the first day of your last period.
