Come off pill few months before ttc ?

Hi!

We've decided to try for baby number 2 early summer time, we conceived fairly easy first time, came off the pill and started trying straight away and was pregnant within around 3 months.

I've somehow convinced myself it's going to be harder this time! I think we just know of so many who conceived very easily first time, and then struggled second time round.

Is it best to come off the pill a few months before to let period go back to normal and get all the hormones out of the system?

We would have to be careful in the meantime though, as don't want to get pregnant before then.

Just wondered if this is what people tend to do when they are ttc?

Thanks Smile

My midwife said people coming off the pill tend to get pregnant immediately or it takes them quite a few months. Personally, I'd just come off the pill and start trying. Worked for you last time - if it isn't broke, don't fix it.

Also since having my first child, my first smear came back with having severe abnormalities which I had to have removed, I've had around 2 years of fairly regular re tests and finally back to the normal gp smears.

Plays on my mind a bit for 2 reasons - I want to get pregnant with our final child number 2, incase I have anything return in the future and is bad enough to prevent us having number 2.

Also wether it's likely to effect chances of conceiving. The medical advice was that it shouldn't, but I've heard people say otherwise - although I guess people never know the reason why it takes you longer to conceive, and just speculate why. Probably overthinking!

Conception no, but you may need a stitch putting in your cervix if they removed a significant portion of it, to prevent late term miscarriage. Do ask about that.
