Withdrawal bleed? Period?

Hi Everyone

Sorry if this is in the wrong part of the forum. I’m new.

I stopped taking the minipill 3 days ago (on Thursday). I woke up this morning I think on my period. It feels like it- some cramping, my lower stomach feels ‘heavy’, which are usual symptom I’d have on my period.

In past I’ve came off of minipill before and if I remember correctly I didn’t get my period until 21 days after (which was funny because my cycle length before I ever went on the pill was 21 days).

I really feel like I’m on my period but from what I’ve read you can’t get a real period so quickly after coming off the minipill.

I have had sex since coming off the minipill (within last 3 days).

Probably withdrawal. A period comes after ovulation and it's unlikely you had time to ovulate in the last three days (period is normally roughly two weeks after ovulation).

Hi

Sorry for late response.

The bleeding did not last very long. I think I only bled for the Sunday morning. I put a new tampon in around 2PM that day, and a couple of hours felt uncomfortable with the tampon so went to take it out and there was not a single drop of anything on it.

Yesterday I experienced a small amount of light brown discharge (definitely not blood). But other than that no blood at all.

I’m a bit confused because from what I’ve read a withdrawal bleed is longer than half a day?

I think there are lots of 'normal' scenarios coming off the pill.
Did you have bleeds at all on the mini pill?
I did not, my withdrawal bleed was extremely light when it arrived, then the next bleed seemed like a proper period.

So I was on the minipill for about 2 years and didn’t bleed at all after the first month or so. I came off of it last year, I wasn’t having sex for a short while so my normal cycles resumed.

I fell pregnant the first time I had sex since coming off the pill and unfortunately could not continue with the pregnancy. After this I went back on the same minipill and I bled I’d say 80-90% of the time I’ve been on it for past 6 months.

Expect weird to be the new normal. I'm not sure what you're looking for? It seems our reassurances aren't helpful to you, and I'm sorry for that.

Periods come after ovulation. It's unlikely you ovulated and then started a period three days later.

Withdrawal bleeds can be long, short, red, brown, sludge or spotting... anything!!!

If you're getting this anxious about this, ttc might be really difficult for you. I'd suggest trying to find some way of trying to go with the flow and accepting that what happens will happen...

Wow. Who said I was unhappy with anyone’s suggestions? All I am doing is responding to the previous poster’s questions.

The attitude of some people on this forum is so rude and nasty and is why I avoid using it. The whole purpose of a forum is to ask questions. Not to belittle or talk down on another woman for asking a question on a forum!

I agree with you - but I also think this forum is useful for getting truth. I think one person's rudeness can just be another person's honesty (which is what I always aim for).

I'm sorry if you thought anything I said was particularly rude, but please read back through this thread in a few months if you have not yet conceived (which I hope isn't the case for you, but it is the reality of many). Everything I've written comes from a place of kindness and of providing as much scientific info as possible.

I'll leave you alone now.

KeoMel · 29/01/2019 12:32

I am not questioning whether or not I have conceived! I don’t think I actually discuss that anywhere. I state in my original post sorry if this isn’t in the right part of the forum. All my original post asked was if I am experiencing a withdrawal bleed or a period as in the near future I want to start TRYING to conceive. If I know what this bleed is I can plan WHEN to have sex.

I have also been pregnant before the first time I had sex after I originally came off the pill. I am not worried or anxious about my fertility or ability to conceive.

@KeoMel hello, the first bleed will be your withdrawal and the second will be your actual period so count from then. Hope this helps x

physicskate · 29/01/2019 14:35

Pot, kettle?? All I did was suggest you re-read this when you're not in the same state of mind if you haven't conceived in a few months (meaning several cycles). So now I'm going to lash out a little at yOUR rudeness: If you know so much about your cycles, I'm sorry but you're putting out some really stupid, basic shit. Not sure why you're ranting at me when I apologised for causing offence!

I also said nothing about you being pregnant or not at present... it would be great if you don't put words in other people's mouths... you're being unreasonable, and possibly irrational too!

Take some deep breaths.

Just have sex every two or three days as cycles can really be anything after coming off hormonal bc - it's a bit like withdrawal from any substance. Your cycles might be straightforward and regular, or they might not. It's pot luck.

I also mentioned nothing about your ability to conceive. Please don't bandy about infertility in a flippant way, it's highly insensitive.

I honestly don't know if you've read my previous posts, but your reaction suggests you haven't...

And with that final thought, I don't care for your attitude and relating what I've said to completely unrelated things. I won't be replying again, to help you or contradict you (because you say you know it all and don't need help???).

KeoMel · 29/01/2019 14:43

You’re actually insane ‘psychic’ Kate. Please do not continue to respond to my thread. I have nothing more to say to you, I said what I said.

Proof again you aren't reading what I've written: physics (ie the science???)
