We've been trying to conceive for 15 months. I monitor BBT so know when I ovulated and expected to get my period. Period didn't arrive last week so POAS and got a strong positive. Spent the last week thinking I was pregnant.

Last night I had some spotting so today I took my BBT again (I stopped temping when I got my BFP); it's still high. Then later went to the Early Pregnancy Unit. They took blood and did an internal exam. After internal exam they said my cervix looked nice and closed, but I had a small erosion on my cervix that is common in pregnancy, was nothing to worry about and causing the spotting.

Fast forward to now and they've just rung and said my blood test came back negative. I'm not pregnant. I'm in shock.

Can blood tests be wrong? Why is my BBT still high? And a false positive and still no period?! I'm so confused. And sad, really sad.

I don't want to give false hope OP, but did you see them label your blood sample with your details? It can happen in busy clinics that overstretched staff take samples away to label whilst they're trying to deal with something or someone else and end up accidentally labelling them with the wrong patients details. It's not very common, but a possibility if you're still getting BFP HPT's. I'm sad to say that the chances of the test itself being wrong is very, very low because lab tests are so tightly regulated to prevent this sort of thing happening. You can always ask for a repeat though to be absolutely certain, one way or the other. Keeping everything crossed for you for a BFP soon 🤞🏻🍀x

@BambiOnIce80 thank you for replying. Have since taken a home pregnancy test which was also negative. So I guess either a false positive originally or I was pregnant and now I'm not.

I'll cry into my wine tonight, pull my big girl pants on tomorrow and carry on.

I'm so sorry @Boodlesnap 😔 It sounds possible that you've either had a CP or a very early MC. I've been trying on and off for nearly 5 years myself without so much as a hint of a BFP and I can't wrap my head around what you must be going through right now - I'm tearing up for you 😔 Enjoy that wine and hopefully next cycle will be the cycle 🥂

Hi. Sorry I’m new to mums net and couldn’t work out how to make a new topic so I’m posting here as I need advice.

We have been trying to conceive for 8 months, and whilst I was relaxed at first I’m now getting really upset every time I get my period each month as feel like I might have left it too late (I’m 37 - have 2 children I had in my early 20s during first marriage, now in a very happy 2nd marriage but my hubby has no children of his own and we are desperate for a baby together - as are my 2 kids - constantly asking us when we are going to give them a brother or sister!).

This month, after being at it like rabbits during ovulation (I’m peeing on sticks to find out when ovulating and I seem regular as clock work - cycle every 27/28 days and ovulation on day 12-14 after period) - I got cramps 1 week after ovulation and just felt “different” this passed week - dizzy spells, peeing more often, tired etc. Did pregnancy test (PT) using early detection test on day 24 of my cycle - negative. I’m now on day 29, I’ve had 2 full days of mild cramping but still no period. I did PT tonight (obv not first morning urine) and again negative. Since this is the first day of my missed period PT is 99% accurate - so should I just accept I’m not or worth testing again tomorrow morning (assuming I don’t get period over night!). Sorry for the long essay - just feel so deflated. Even knowing fertility reduces dramatically after age 35, I was so sure I’d fall quickly (fell pregnant so quickly in my 20s!) Any advice welcome! Thanks.
