I guys..
me and partner are trying for baby, I'm due on my period on the 18th. I took two tests and few days ago and both came back with with a really faint pink line. (I tested early as just felt different and been very emotional, had slight cramping round ovulation time) I thought it maybe was evap line but apparently evap lines aren't pink. So I re tested yesterday with a Sainsburys test.. it came back negative? What are people's thoughts.

Many thanks :)

It's going to be one of three things:

  1. you are pregnant and the Sainsbury's test gave you a false negative because they aren't sensitive enough to pick up the hormone yet - you're probably not making enough of the hormone yet to detect cus it's so early. I don't know about Sainsbury's tests specifically, but most are 99% accurate on the day you miss your period.

  2. you're not pregnant and the pink lines were false positives. Were they FRER (first response early results) tests? I took 8 tests over the last few months and 3 gave me feint lines that you could see if you shone a light up to them and held them at the right angle. I believe they were just evap lines though in the end.

  3. you have had a chemical pregnancy, which is where the egg implants and you're technically pregnant for a day or so but maybe your body rejects it for whatever reason (there are lots of reasons) and then you're no longer pregnant. This is surprisingly common and most of the time goes undetected- except by people who test too early!

The only way to know for sure is to wait a few days and test again with a FRER test. Or wait until your period is late and test with any other test (as this is when most give their 99% accurate result!)

Can you upload a picture of the tests with the lines?

Ozziewozzie · 14/01/2019 09:03

Try and get the same brand test as the first two that you did and try again later today. The line should be darker by now if you are pregnant.
Like another poster said, diff brands can have different sensitivity. Many people say the pink tests work more effectively earlier on compared to the blue tests.

This was the original first two (the pic of one was about 5 mins after test) the pic of both I took the following morning. The last was definitely negative.

Hiya and no they were the freedom tests. Sainsbury's are meant to detect it early but I googled the results and there not the best tests apparently.

I can see a line on all three. I’d be inclined to think you are pregnant. Co op do good cheapie tests. £3 or close to. Pink also. I’d try them.

Sherriepaul1 · 14/01/2019 15:14

Really? I pray I am :) does that not look like evap lines then? I've never had an evap line before so don't know what there like?

Looks possitive to me! Have you managed to take another test to confirm? Xx
