I've been trying to conceive for about 8 months now and have just been diagnosed with polycystic ovaries. Please can you share your experiences with pcos and getting pregnant? I'm desperate for a baby and have been really down about my acne and the fact that if put on weight since coming off the pill

I have pcos though I always ovulated and had periods though cycle varied from 25 - 40 days. Also overweight, hairy etc classic pcos signs. Conceived after 2 and a half years for my first, then my second took one month and my third 6 months.

Do you have periods and how often? Do you get ovulation signs e.g. ewcm?

I'm currently on cycle day 117 and just started to get a bit of spotting yesterday, so I had a lovely pelvic ultrasound today and ended up with blood down my legs Blush. Maybe this is actually a period! I've never looked forward to a period for so long.

I came off the pill around March last year and have basically only had 2 times where I've bled since. Not even sure if I'd count them as periods. Pre-pill I had heavy irregular periods and on the pill I had lots of spotting/brown gunky dishcharge (sorry if TMI)

Never noticed ewcm - what should I be looking for??!

Oh and what treatment can the doctors give you for pcos? Sorry I'm a bit clueless!

I am not a doctor. But I would be asking for them to consider metformin.

You will ovulate roughly 14 days before period. I always noticed by an egg white cervical mucus (Ewcm) when I wiped after a wee for about a day. Like a clear jelly.

It is a while since I was obsessed with all this so maybe do some googling of reputable sites but you need help getting more regular ovulation as you cannot conceive without releasing an egg. Not every period will have ovulation first - occasionally they don’t / but every ovulation will be followed by a period.

Also take the steps you need to to get help but retain hope. I didn’t think it would happen to me and it did.

I've had pcos for 12 years but was only diagnosed in december.
It took me 1 cycle to get pregnant with my first who was born premature due to pre eclampcia and 11 months of TTC for my second who we unfortunately lost at 6 weeks pregnant.
I don't ovulate regularly at all, maybe 3/4 time a year so its been an up hill struggle for us.
My best advice would be to push to be seen by a gynecologist as go are terrible with pcos and track your ovulation so you can learn about what's normal for you and understand your body

I was diagnosed with pcos 2 years after I had my twins. I second metformin has been really good for me. I’m not sure if this is still the case but you may have to get it prescribed by a consultant rather than a gp. My gp only offered the pill. Other thing that has helped is following a low GI (glycemic index) food plan. Oooh and there’s a couple of vitamins that can be good - think it’s chromium & selenium? There’s a support group called verity i think that have lots of info x

Today had turned into an even shitter day. Someone had driven into the back of me and accused me of reversing into him! Angry
