DH and I are TTC#1. Cycle 4. For the first time I’m feeling a bit optimistic that AF may not show up next Monday! I’m not testing til I’m overdue. If I get there, what is the best/ most accurate tests to try and purchase? What are people’s experiences? I’m fairly sure I’d want to test twice just to make sure! Trying very hard not to get my hopes up as I’m 38 and DH 39 so I know we may be in for a much longer haul....

Thank you!

I used Sainsbury's cheapies and Lloyd cheapies.
Good luck x

I went for the double pack that Clear Blue do - one is a really accurate one that gives quite an early indication, and if that one is positive you take the other one, which gives an indication of how many weeks you are.
Clear Blue and First Response have very good reputations, but if you're waiting till you're overdue I think you could use just about anything, they all work in the same way it's just how sensitive they are to very small amounts of hormone.

Good luck Flowers

Like pp says if you can wait till your period is late any old test should do - you can get 3 strip tests for £1 in Poundland if you want super cheap! Then if you get a line maybe get a digital one so you can actually see the words/if your husband won't trust a cheapie.

First response early detection £7.24 for 2 on prime xx

I waited until I was 5 days late and used clear blue easy to read test, 2 in a pack for about £8. The positive is impossible to mistake so no faffing around wondering if it is or isn't a line. Good luck, fingers crossed for you 🤞

JillieHunter · 09/01/2019 20:33

So would you say this is a positive 😀? X

Thanks ladies, that’s really helpful! I like the sound of the digital ones for the certainty! Fingers crossed DH is off on a mission on Monday night!!

@JillieHunter - I’ve never done a test myself so I wouldn’t like to guess, but good luck!

The clearblue digital one that tells you pregnant or not pregnant. Any other test will make you squint your eyes for at least ten minutes under a bright light to see if you really can't/ do see a line and you still won't believe it.

Newyearsameoldshit · 10/01/2019 07:58

JillieHunter that looks positive!
How long did you wait to try the Clear Blue? Was it a digital? If it was, they need a higher level of HCG to get a positive result.

crazychemist · 10/01/2019 09:09

That looks positive. I’d get a clear blue digital one to confirm.

Scotslass55 · 19/01/2019 12:24

Thanks for your advice ladies, went for a Clear Blue regular double pack, and both BFPs! 😃 thank you!
