Hi everyone - I am coming off cerazette contraceptive pill that I have been on for 13 years after being put on them as a teenager because my periods were absolutely horrendous!!!! So heavy and so painful that I would vomit and pass out nearly every time AF decided to appear! They were so bad towards the end every time she decided to appear I ended up in hospital on a drip having pethidine injections!! Since being on cerazette I have had not one single period for the whole 13 years and it has been great! Now me and my husband want to TTC this year so I have the dreaded task of coming off the pill and I'm so so so so scared as ALL I have heard are horror stories about people feeling so poorly and actually feeling worse coming off of it. The main worry for me is being at work/out and finally getting my period for the first time because I don't want to flood everywhere and end up being ill in front of people ( I have emetophobia as well which doesn't help at all!) because I know its a guessing game as to when your periods will return! What I would really like to hear is from anyone who has come off Cerazette/ the pill who have POSITIVE stories??? IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE THAT HAS ONE LOL. Thank you all in advance for any replies! MWAH xx

I came off at the end of October, had a withdrawal bleed early November, had some crazy symptoms that I thought were pregnancy related (they weren't!), period start of December, must've conceived around the 17th and got positive pregnancy tests last weekend! It's all happened surprisingly quickly and I am feeling extremely lucky. Also reassuring to know that these drugs I've been pumping into my body for 10 years actually worked all that time!

All the best for you in your TTC journey.

@yorkshiretealass thank you for your reply and wow that’s so amazing huge congratulations 🥳

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced that there periods became more manageable or lighter after coming off this pill?? I really hope mine are! Just been and brought a whole array of sanitary products for the first time in 13 years!! Boy it was strange and I must of spent 10mins just stood staring at all the different products!!! How times have changed from 13 years ago lol xx

I’ve just come off cerazette a couple of weeks ago too. Nothing much yet to report other than not sleeping at all and strange cramping pains in my stomach and lower abdomen! Jumping on here too to hopefully hear some positive news, all I’ve found so far seem to be horror stories!

Riley1989 · 11/01/2019 09:45

@Elo2610 thank you for your reply! Thanks for joining hopefully we get lots more positive stories including our own!! Xx

First day off my pill (should have taken it last night) nothing to report yet other then feeling really bloody nervous lol xxxx

Hi @Riley1989, how’s everything this last couple of days?
I think I’ve been off the pill for a couple of weeks now and spent most of the time cramping! It’s so weird but not had any sign of AF. Sooooo annoying as wanna get back on track try for a bubba.
I even used OPKs to see if I was ovulating at any time but get fed up with negative results. Anyway, keep me posted how you get on. X

Riley1989 · 14/01/2019 20:33

Hi @Roxybaby12 nice to hear from you! Hope you are ok!! You must have read my mind as was going to update tonight! Been off the pill a week now and absolutely no withdrawal bleed/any bleeding whatsoever! I have found that I have had what feels like menstrual cramps although I do have IBS so hard to tell the difference! Today however I have felt quite poorly! I felt very nauseous (not good with my emetophobia!) I’ve felt so tired like all my energy has been sucked out of me and really wobbly and dizzy! Now there is a lot of cold/flu bugs going round my work so it could just be that I am actually coming down with something but if not I really hope it’s because my body is getting ready to have my first bleed in thirteen years!! I know it’s only been a week but I’m already sick of waiting!! Want to get started with TTC! I’m so impatient lol keep me updated also hun good to hear each other’s updates 😘 xxxx

Just jumping on here. I came off the beginning of December got my first period beginning of this month. It was a strange one with some brown blood coming in small parts and going then got a full on period for 7 days (mine were shorter before). I'm hoping it's a quick process because I blooming hate periods 🙈

Riley1989 · 24/01/2019 16:43

Hi ladies thought I’d update. It’s two weeks today of coming off my pill and for the last two days I have had horrendous stomach cramps and a feeling like there is a house brick in my womb!! It feels so heavy and swollen in there!! Starting to make me feel sick from the pain as these cramps are really bad! No bleeding at all yet! Anyone else have this same sensation/pain starting to get worried something is wrong as never felt anything like this before xxxx

Hi @ Riley1989

Just got home and thought I should check in with you! Brew
So sorry you’re having these horrible cramps! I’m not much help but I think I’ve been off this pill now about 4 weeks and still
haven’t had a withdrawal bleed-been having cramps for the whole time, sometimes they would shock me and other times just felt constant and heavy! (If that makes sense!) although the cramps have died off a little now, they kinda feel more like dull AF type cramps but not as painful or as often. I’m sure it’s the body building up the lining maybe?? I don’t know but I do know I have Really really painful boobs and God help anyone that p***s me off! My moods are terrible. Sorry I’ve rambled.. have you you had a withdrawal bleed yet? Hope all else is ok with you hun. Xx

Boonejii · 24/01/2019 19:25

Hi! I’ve been taking Cerazette for about 6 years. I was awful at taking it and was constantly on/off it. Came off it for good early Jan as DH and I decided the ‘perfect time’ may never come!

Around 7 days after coming off I started my breakthrough bleed, it’s still ongoing about 7 days in now. Just when I think it’s stopped it springs back up again. Haven’t started tracking anything yet as still getting my head around it, so we’ll see!

Zoeox · 24/01/2019 19:41

@boonejii That makes me wonder if mine was a breakthrough bleed but 6 weeks later. That lasted just over a week, with spotting, then a big bleed, then spotting then full on bleeds. Crazy hormones.

Riley1989 · 24/01/2019 20:11

Hiya @Roxybaby12 honestly these cramps and this heavy swollen feeling is awful struggling to walk stabding up straight because it’s so painful! No withdrawal bleed no bleed whatsoever 😖 I wouldn’t mind the pain so much if I was bleeding because I would understand why I’m in so much pain!!! My boobs are also agony!! God I hope it all improves soon! I’m sorry you have been having cramps and no bleeding as well but it helps me to know I’m not the only one!! 💕💕

@ Riley1989
Ahhh Hun, damn bodies are crazy aren’t they?? Sorry your cramps are causing you so much pain. I don’t think mine have been as bad as yours-I hope you have painkillers and a hot water bottle sweetie? I guess this is how the body regulates itself after ‘interfering’ with the hormones! I totally understand the wanting to start TTC! I’m lucky I have 2 babies already but am soooooo broody for #3! Smile
I wasn’t great at taking the pill and once forgot to take it for about 2/3 days (oops) and had a bleed but not this time! I just don’t get it! I don’t know how you managed to take it for so long-I think I was only taking it for about 4-6 months!
I used to take Microgynon and had no issues coming off that!
I hope you have a wonderful partner helping you out at home? Xx

Roxybaby12 · 24/01/2019 20:47

@boonejii
Hi, that’s very interesting! I literally started cramping about a week after stopping the pill and it only eased off last week. No bleeding at all... no spotting either! I hope I either start bleeding soon or am already pregnant! Lol
Did you get bad cramps? If so were they before bleeding started? Thanks x

Riley1989 · 24/01/2019 22:23

@Roxybaby12 I have the most wonderful husband he is doing his best to look after me!! I’ve just been in tears because of the pain saying to him I wish I was a man 😭 TMI but I have just had the worst upset stomach as well so that’s not helping my situation. I have honestly never felt pain like this before I’m so worried something is wrong!! I’ve been taken ibuprofen and paracetamol every 4 hours and had 3 baths today and a hot water bottle on my tummy constantly all day nothing Is helping! I honestly don’t know what to do! I feel like such a baby keep crying but this pain is so intense xxxx

@riley1989
Ahh you poor thing! It’ll get easier-I promise! I think mine were pretty intense for the first couple of weeks but it’ll ease off. You know it’s weird you say about the upset tummy! I had the same thing yesterday morning.. woke up to awful pain and hadn’t to run to the loo (sorry tmi). Told DH I was sick of crying all the time and being stressed out. We bedded last night and have started bleeding this morning! It’s only light and cramps aren’t too bad. Fingers crossed you’re not far behind me.. we’ll get through this together. Keep the faith huni.. great the your DH is helping you out so much, I’m sure he understands and especially after taking the pill for so long. Keep me posted on how you’re getting on sweetie and keep your chin up. Xx

Roxybaby12 · 08/02/2019 18:10

@RILEY1989
Hey sweetie, how are you? Xx

Riley1989 · 08/02/2019 21:23

Hiya @Roxybaby12 I’m sure you know when something is going on with me!! Both times I’ve thought I must update on mumsnet you message me!!! ❤️ So I started bleeding today!! First time in 13 years it’s not really heavy (yet) but enough to need a pad and for there to always be blood when I wipe (sorry TMI!) so basically from the last time we spoke I was 100% ovulating when we were talking and I was in loads of pain and I passed a massive mucus plug during that time (again sorry if TMI) then all my undercarriage was very swollen and I was in pain for roughly 4 days! Then that all went away and I have had no symptoms other then extremely sore boobs! So from what I can work out I came off the pill on the 10th Jan I then ovulated on the 24th Jan and I’ve started either my withdrawal bleed/period today so the 8th Feb! I started with really mild period pains yesterday then this morning woke up to bad period pains and Having period pains at the moment but painkillers are thankfully helping with this pain and I feel really emotional but also glad that I am bleeding which is a strange way to feel!! How are you? How is everything going? xxx

Roxybaby12 · 08/02/2019 22:23

@riley1989
Hi lovely, lol... I was worried about you as you hadn’t updated for a while. Pleased you’re doing well. I totally understand the weird relief of bleeding! As horrible as periods can be at least you know your body is back to normal and doing what is should be. Sorry you’re having pains-don’t forget how soothing a hot water bottle can be! 🥰 you’ve practically described how I was feeling a couple of weeks ago! I was nearly convinced I was preggers because my boobs hurt soooo badly and I was just super emotional! It’ll pass soon and you’ll feel like yourself again. In the meantime drink wine!! 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷
That’s really interesting that you ovulated after coming off the pill-I used OPKs all last month and never once had a positive reading. Actually had a load of EWCM yesterday and a positive opk today.. we both agreed to start trying but DH seems to be dragging his feet a little! Feeling a little upset with him about it but have to keep quiet! Also what’s weird today... had a very slight twinge in my left side (I never get ovulation pains) and have felt like I’m burning up! Face is so red... I don’t temp but I suppose this is me finally ovulating... I really hope we catch this soon! Not getting any younger! 😂
Keep me posted how you’re doing sweetie. Xx

Riley1989 · 09/02/2019 05:53

Morning @Roxybaby12 so currently been awake with really bad period pains since 3:30am 😴😢 hot water bottle in situ and painkillers just about helping - bleeding is quite heavy now but hoping today will be the worst day as I’m feeling pretty awful to be honest! I was as surprised as you but I know I defo ovulated as I brought the clear blue ovulation test because I was getting really impatient and worried that I had done myself damage by being on this pill for such a long time! The first few were obviously telling me I wasn’t and then when I was having all the pain and the mucus plug I done one and it said I was 🤗 so I know I defo did!! Trying to embrace the fact my body is working properly and that I’m really lucky everything has come back to normal so quickly because I know for some women it doesn’t work that way and it’s heartbreaking for them but I’m feeling so rough that it’s hard and I have to keep telling myself having all this is a good thing!!!! Sorry your DH is dragging his feet!! I think it’s amazing how when your not TTC they are up for DTD alllllll the time lol then as soon as you are TTC they start falling behind 🙄🙄 hope you are feeling ok xxxxx
