Preparing for a pregnancy with severe sickness

DH and I are planning to start ttc for DC2 soon. We have 1 DC aged 15 months. I was very sick during my first pregnancy from 5 weeks to 26 weeks and was on Odansetron for a couple of months. I basically survived on diluted apple juice and digestive biscuits. This time I want to be better prepared, especially as I have DS to look after. DH works long hours, often 7 days a week, but I do have assistance with household chores and looking after DS (we live abroad).

I have started to batch cook and fill the freezer (we live 45 mins from the nearest town so shopping is a hassle). I have also, on the advice of my doctor, started to take calcium tablets as well as folic acid as apparently supplements can increase nausea (I will stop the calcium when I am pregnant but continue with folic acid). I am trying to increase my weight as I know that I will likely lose a lot.

Does anyone else have any other tips, either practical or health-wise?

I couldn't manage tap water but could just about manage with a Brita Filter. I progressed to lettuce and cucumber. Your aim is to stay hydrated. What works for you?

I had hyperemesis with dd and I'm pregnant again (12 weeks) and have been sick twice. Each pregnancy is different but you're doing well with being prepared!
Expect the worst but hope for the best. You never know what'll happen xx

bellini lettuce and cucumber are a good idea, thanks.

Mrsmummy that's great news (for you and me!) that you have escaped hyperemesis this time. I have noticed among friends that it is always worse the second time so your experience gives me hope! Thank you so much.
