TTC after mirena coil!

Hey!
My hubby and I are new on here so apologies if this has been discussed before, looking to get other people's experiences of ttc after having mirena coil removed.
My coil was removed on 22nd November, had nothing but some cramps for 1-2 days, 2 days later, 24th, I bled quite heavily for 2 days then nothing. I had the coil for around 5.5 years and had no idea of my cycle length or when I would be ovulating so we bought ovulation tests to try and build a picture (I took my withdrawal bleed as a period). On December 9th we had a positive ovulation test, so that worked out quite nicely (according to an app I'm using to log everything, that was when I should be).

After goodness knows how many pregnancy tests (I'm an addict, luckily with a supportive and providing hubby), all negative and my period (I think?) Arrived 23rd, quite heavy but only for 2 full days and woke up to a tiny bit on day 3 but that's all.

I have read a lot that some people don't get a period for 6 months, so I don't know if I should be happy that I did like clockwork, or sad that it was only 2 days long?

I am due to ovulate (using my tests now) on Sunday, 6th, so we are trying. Just wanting to know others experience with periods and whether it sounds like my cycle is returning to normal or not?

It's all new to us and reading lots of information is overwhelming as well as confusing, we'd like real people's experiences 😊

Thanks in advance. K&S xxx

Is this your first time ttc? I came off the coil and fell pregnant on my second cycle. It was my first pregnancy and I was 19 so my experience was everything went back to 'normal' pretty much straight away

I had the mirena for 5yrs and it took me 6 cycles (over 8 months) to fall pregnant afterwards when I was 28. A scan after 3 months showed that my endometrial layer was very thin, this is apparently common after the mirena. I saw a Chinese doctor who prescribed herbs and acupuncture for increasing the lining and put me on a diet designed to help and I got pregnant that very month, but it may have been coincidence. I did not have a coil put back in after DD1 was born, but went on the mini pill instead and DD2 was concieved first month of trying.

I have a mirena again how as I don’t think I want any more children. If we did decide to ttc again though, I would expect it to take longer that normal as I think that the mirena is a factor in my personal slowness to conceive DD1.

Good luck!

Thanks very much, Yes first time trying! I know I shouldn't think like this, but I thought I wouldn't have to wait long as we have both been pregnant before (previous partner's), I was young and aborted (sorry!) And his partner miscarried due to PO's. We didn't know what to expect and didn't know anything about the lining being thinned out by the coil until we got our BFN first time around. It's the bleeding for 2 days that I'm unsure about, I feel I should be happy it's a sign of a lining building up in the first month, but also, is it enough of one as it was only 2 days long?

I never before understood why people said they were 'trying' to conceive, now I get it! It really is something to be really trying with! We're just so eager and excited and waiting is so horrible! Just fingers crossed for this ovulation on Sunday! X

I had a mirena coil for just under 3 years and conceived about 6 weeks after removal, having had one bleed immediately after it came out. All this is just anecdotal and so probably not that helpful anyway.
