Hey everyone!! This is my first post here. My other half wants to go and get tested to find out why I haven’t got pregnant yet. I’m a bit hesitant as I am absolutely petrified of needles. Even talking about them I shizz myself. My question is do you have to have blood tests or can you refuse them and just have scans. Thank you 😘

How long have you been ttc? Scan only provide incredibly limited information (like if you have polycystic ovaries but can't tell you if you have pcos). It would be pointless just getting a scan.

When trying to concieve our first, we had to wait until we'd been trying for a year. They did blood tests to check I was ovulating (I wasn't and had unbalanced hormones). They checked hubby's sperm count and did a scan of my ovaries (which are polycystic). To be honest, getting the bloods done is a quick and effective diagnostic tool and will help you get a better picture. If you get pregnant, you'll need far more bloods taken (diabetes test, several vials at your first midwife appointment etc) so think of it as practice?

I thought the blood tests were the first port of call. I had mine and was in and out within 3 minutes for both, had the results within 4 days. I've had a scan but it wasn't able to see the fill details, waiting to see the GP for the next step. They can tell a lot from a blood test.
