I know that sounds stupid!
I plan to go pick up a second test this week and confirm, but I am now petrified at the thought of it being negative compared to today’s positive. (DH already apprehensive it’s all going to go wrong, we’ve wanted this for so long it’s hard to get excited!)

Do I then make an appointment with my GP/nurse? I’ve heard a lot of people say there is no point as they don’t do anything for you?
Also my women’s health/fertility clinic have said I need to have an early scan due to my previous health problems - do I contact them directly?

Sorry for the stupid questions, brain is like jelly and feel like this is all some practical joke my body/brain/eyes/universe is playing on me!

Merry Christmas 😊

Not stupid at all!

The procedure for your booking appointment varies depending on your local area. Call your GP, tell them you've just found out you're pregnant and you're not sure how/ when to book your first midwife appointment. They will send you in the right direction.

Your first routine appointment won't be till around 8 weeks as sadly it's common to have a miscarriage before that stage. It's far more common not to have a miscarriage though, so try not to worry yourself too much! It's something you need to be prepared for as a possibility but you shouldn't spend much time thinking about it.

As for what your fertility clinic have said, it depends on the details so best to call them directly and ask, yeah.

The NHS site has some good basic info for pregnant women.

Congratulations and good luck! :)

Thank you!
I feel like I know the answers, just very overwhelming.
It must be the first appointments I’ve been told about, that they’re most helpful closer to 12 weeks?
I’ll test again, and arrange an appointmet, go from there!
