Anyone taking rigevidon pill or taken it before?

I had copper coil removed and and my Gp proscribed me rigevidon but after reading the leaflet it really made me scared of taking it and not sure now. I would like to hear from laddies who have taken it before or currently using? Is good or bad? Thanks

I’ve taken it for years and never had a problem with it!

Same here, was switched to rigevidon when I went to uni for some reason. Never had any issues with it. Was on it for 7 years .

Chanel05 · 22/12/2018 08:45

I was on it for 12 years with no issues.

Yes I was taking it. I was originally on microgynon since age of 18 then one day chemist gave me rigevidon and said it's exactly the same just cheaper for the nhs. Had zero problems when taking it. Stopped it 3 years ago and fell pregnant on 2nd cycle with my son. Then took it again and stopped in November and AF returned after 30 days so I've had no problems with periods returning after stopping it.

I took it and didn't get on with it, also a lot of bad rep in the news about this particular pill. Although they all have their risks this one seems to keep hitting the news.

I was taking cerazette which is a mini pill (I had aoura migraines so had to come off combined pill) and had no side effects with it what so ever. The only lainnis remembering to take it the same time, give or take 12 hours everyday. I'm useless at taking tablets. Now ttc so it doesn't matter, hooray!

Willow1992 · 22/12/2018 22:33

No noticeable side effects and I took it for years (I was given the same as you and also a very similar drug under a different brand name depending on who I got it from).
Definitely no long term fertility issues because I now have a lovely DS after forgetting to take it 5 years ago. Xmas Blush
In fact, having been on the depo shot before that which left me still with no periods after over a year of stopping taking it, the combined pill brought back and regulated my period straight away, so I have actually had a very positive experience with it overall.

It's a first line combined bill which is generally tolerated very well with a lower VTE risk than the newer generation pills. The only way you will know if it suits you is to take it. Always allow 2 months for any new form of
contraception to have a settling in period before you make a decision whether it's
for you or not as by this point any hormonal side effects should start to settle.

I’ve just been given this pill and have also been very alarmed at the tidal wave of scary reviews about it.

Does anyone else have any experience of it?

Did you start on it OP? Smile

Cecilia2016 · 28/12/2018 19:46

Hi, I have started taking it and I’m on day 5 but I’m still scared of the side effects. Will wait and see what happens next.

Thanks Cecilia. How are you feeling so far?

Cecilia2016 · 29/12/2018 14:27

No worries! So far so good and no changes.

I love this pill, no side effects, controls bleeding, feel great on it unlike every other contraceptive I've ever tried. Only took me 40 years!

thesnapandfartisinfallible · 29/12/2018 17:29

Took it for 11 years and had no issues.

AtrociousCircumstance · 29/12/2018 18:21

Great to read positive accounts, thanks!
