Hi everyone!

Me and my partner are TTC have been for around 5/6 weeks. I am taking Pregnacare Conception tablets too.

I’ve never had a proper cycle, and have been on the contraceptive pill since 14 years old. I am now 21. I came off my pill around 6 weeks ago and have not had a withdrawal bleed. I went to my GP had blood test and all came back normal apart from a note saying ‘not ovulating yet’.

I booked myself in for a private scan which showed everything being normal apart from the lining of my womb being only 2mm thick!

Has anyone experienced this and managed to thicken their endometrial lining ?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

The thickness will depend on where in your cycle you are. The GP note saying 'not ovulating yet' just means literally not currently ovulating.

It can take 6-12 months for your cycle to return from stopping any hormonal contraception.

In the nicest possible way, time is on your side, it's been 6 weeks. Relax!

The lining of your womb thickens and then sheds every month with a period. You may be due a bleed. Normal uterine lining during mensuration is 2-4mm.
If you've not been having proper cycles due to being on the pill then your body needs time to adjust and for your hormone levels to return to normal. You won't ovulate until you've had a cycle.

If you are concerned speak to your gp again or a consultant gynaecologist. Gp could refer you for an nhs ultrasound scan, they won't be able to take your previous scan results into consideration unfortunately.

Bit premature to see GP!! It can take several months to get a bleed at all. And up to a year to get normal cycles after coming off of any form of hormonal contaception.

Have a google about ovulation - that is the key to your cycle. When you ovulate, your period (or a positive test) will arrive a set number of days later (11-16 with 14 days later being average). No ovulation? No period. Or, perhaps a late period if your lining becomes to heavy and begins to shed (in a 'cycle' where you don't ovulate, this is called 'anovulatory' and it's normal to get one or two of these a year, even without having been on hormonal contraception.).

It is very very normal to take a year or more to conceive, so it might be an idea to try to be patient and let your body adjust to not having artificial hormones for the first time in many years - it's a bit like going through withdrawal.
