Fertility Blood Tests at GP

Just had some results from some blood tests. I've had some results over the 'phone but need to wait until the new year to see the doctor to discuss. In the meantime I am looking for some help with understanding what I've been told.
I have been advised that the menopause test and the prolactine tests are normal but that there is one test outstanding.
Any mn'ers out there who can tell me what test is likely to be outstanding (ie what else would they test for) and what prolactine test checks for. I'm pleased everything normal so far but my periods are very light and very short which is why I was worried as until a year ago they were much heavier and longer.
I've been ttc #2 for 18 months now with no joy and am 42 so time is running out for me and I need to decide whether to consider private treatment.

Prolactin is the hormone that stimulates breast milk production (pro lactation). It also suppresses fertility which is why is unusual for a woman to get pregnant while breastfeeding. Sometimes women who are not breastfeeding can have unusually high levels of prolactin which hinders their ability to conceive, so that's why they test for it.

As to the test being outstanding, I think they probably meant that they've sent off the sample but the lab hasn't supplied the results yet, so it's the results that are outstanding.

Good luck. I had mine at 39 and 41, so I understand your struggle.

@aud42 hope you get the results soon into the new year. Although criteria are different in each area, with your age and length TTC, you should be being referred by your GP at this stage. Even if your blood tests are normal or outstanding.
As for which blood test is outstanding, difficult to say as the ones you have mentioned and thyroid function are the baseline tests that most people would carry out, as well as swabs to exclude pelvic inflammatory disease for you and semen analysis of your partner (the last two may take a bit longer to come back from the lab)
Hope you get some answers soon, or better still, a BFP x
