Hi

Im 24 and my partner is 25. We’ve been together for 6 years, lived together for 3.

In August this year we suffered a miscarriage at around 8 weeks. I tried to look on the bright side and realised it was very early on!

I struggled with it all and decided to go back on depo. I had the shot in August. They scheduled me in for another in November (as they do), but I didn’t return for it.
A bit of a back story...

I was on depo when I met my partner, and was on it for 5 years. I was advised last year to have a break due to some of the effects of using depo for such a prolonged period of time. I chose the pill (in hindsight that was stupid!). I was on the pill for a good few months. I missed one pill whilst climbing in then scottish highlands in June and suspect this is when I conceived.

I have been off depo a month now. I had a small, light 4 day bleed from 29th November until 2nd December.

I have been charting my temprature (picture of this below) and taking ovulation tests.

I was wondering if anyone knows if how many depo shots you have has an effect on how long it takes to get your cycles back.

Does my chart look like im ovulating?

Thanks

I only had 3 depo shots (so around 9 months), I had one small bleed but it took me an entire year for my periods to return to normal x

Well! At least it will give us some time, i bet that was frustrating!

Depo is a big old dose of progesterone, can delay fertility returning anything up to a year

Lymphy · 18/12/2018 13:25

And yes that chart looks like you ovulated cycle day 10 to me

This may sound stupid but could I ovulate and still not conceive because of the effects the depo may still be having on my womb? I was told thar my miscarriage may have been due to the womb lining being too thick to support the baby

I’ve never heard about a lining being to thick as a cause for miscarriage, that certainly doesn’t mean that’s not the case if you were told so by a professional and there are many women on these boards with far greater experience and knowledge than me on the topic who may come along to say otherwise.
In terms of the depo it works by essentially knocking your ovaries out and by thinning the uterine lining, so having a thicker lining typically wouldn’t be as a result of the Depo. Also as it’s progesterone it shouldn’t have any negative effects on fertility (just potentials delaying its return) progesterone has is one of the safest medicines out there in terms of risk factors , nearly anyone can take it safely, as it looks like you are ovulating the depo has cleared now so if your body is ovulating then your lining should be fine as well
